About Tarai

Tarai is a Chuvash post-punk-folk trio dedicated to the Chuvash people, their culture and language that reaches back 2,500 years.

"A strong sense of identity and purpose shines through the songs. The group manages to meld melodies that sound progressive, but which are also redolent of Central Asian rhythms and vocal mannerisms. One might feel that this is pop music, sweetened around the edges, but it is the lyrical content that particularly reveals the rough struggle and hope concerning the Chuvash language." Tarai lives in Tallinn (Estonia). It has released two albums: "We are good" (2020) and "Empty Drum" (2022). Members: Aleksandr Aidarov (vocals, guitar), Einar Muoni (bass), Petr Suškov (synth) and the drum machine - Ahtai.
