About Dan Sotelo

From experience, putting any kind of electric engine that depends on the bicycle chain to do the pulling and the driving is a VERY, VERY, VERY BAD IDEA. Why? Because the bicycle chain no matter how high of quality is designed to handle Human Power, not the power put out by an electric engine. Yeah the first few miles are fun and exciting and in no time you'll soon start to have serious chain and derailleur problems. WHY??? Because the life of the chain/stretch is dramatically cut by more then 3/4 in less then 50 miles of use. Then the stretched chain ruins the rear cassette or freewheel cogs. Now the chain is skipping wildly putting tremendous forces on the little derailleur pulley wheels, and suddenly the chain jams between the pulleys and the pulley cage and BINGO, you just ripped the derailleur off your bike! How do I know this? Cause I work on these things all the time at my bike shop.
