Minetest is a great alternative to Minecraft. It is a free and open source engine rather than a game. The Minetest engine comes packaged with "Minetest Game" out of the box, which is a modpack in of itself. You can customize and tailor Minetest to suit your needs and desires. You do this by installing mods from the ContentDB in-game.

Survivalcraft 2 is an old classic, enjoyed by many from around 2013 and up. This game is heavily focused on survival, and it can be a more challenging experience compared to Minecraft. Your food can spoil, you can get sick, you can freeze to death, etc. If you like survival and voxel graphics, then give Survivalcraft 2 a go.
