"Simon has really bad daddy issues and no therapist". Simon has to get in line...

One of those rare moments where the screen IS better than the book .

Quinn saying if she included minority characters that the other characters would be mean to them is absolutely mind boggling to me. Does she realise that she can decide how her own characters act? She literally wrote a sexist, racist book and then was like but it's not my fault, it's my characters. Wow.

I've seen a lot of people playing down the rape. Common responses are "he deserved it he lied to her" "she didn't know what she was doing" "it was hot she was in control". It doesn't sit right and idk why they thought it would.

I find a lot of writers, both men and women, who romanticise the regency period also romanticise sexist and unpleasant men. Not a good time

This book just sounds like it's straight out of Wattpad
  • “The Bridgerton siblings are named in alphabetical order, like the Kardashians could never” is absolutely an underrated line!

The actress for Penelope is gorgeous. Seriously, her hair color and eyes caught my attention right away. Had no idea the book describes her character like that

netflix: makes bridgerton bright and colorful and winx dull and gloomy um?
  • tw: rape and the tv show is even WORSE they tried to make the rape a "feminist thing" and the creator says he doesn't regret the decision about that scene because it's part of daphne's development. i just can't believe it. it is SO problematic

8:37 "She didn't write minority characters into her romance novels, because she felt like the white people in the novels would be mean to them". Oh... It must be hard to not be able to control your characters or the events in your books in any way. Reminds me of the interview: George Stroumboulopoulos: "There's one thing that's interesting about your books. I noticed that you write women really well and really different. Where does that come from?" George Martin: "You know I've always considered women to be people."

What's crazy to me is that so many people didn't even realise that scene was rape! Whenever I got onto the topic of Bridgerton with someone I would mention how bad the rape scene was and every person would look at me with confusion and go "what rape scene?". It absolutely blew my mind and shows how we still have such a long way to go with how men's consent and sexuality is treated in addition to women's.

Whether it’s more the “duke and I” or I want to “puke and die” 😂😂😂
  • @umno6347
my names for the bridgerton brothers were sideburns, artsy and the other brother, so... basically the same.

“as if the prince might not be even a little bit annoyed that this random woman left his family heirloom on this bridge so she could have her back cracked like a glowstick by the duke” IM DEAD

When jack was like "Simon has daddy issues and no therapist" I laughed so hard because the first interview I saw of the actor who plays Simon he was like "someone please give him a hug and get him a therapist, like it all could get fixed with therapy" and "please smile"
