3 bolt to 2 bolt SPD adapters. Convert your road cycling shoes to 2 bolt SPD

Published 2021-10-29
Hey guys, here we compare 3 different versions of 3 bolt to 2 bolt SPD cleat adapters. I like road shoes, they are light, stylish and very performance orientated. I also have 2 bikes one for offload and casual touring and the Domane of course. It's nice to keep the pedal system consistent and not have to swap anything but shoes.

The three types I have used are the Wellgo SPD Shoes Adapter, Sidi SPD Adaptor Plate, and Shimano SM SH41 check them out and see what would be suitable for your use.

Thanks for watching and post any comments or questions you may have.

  • Thank you so much for your video. It saved my life! As soon as I installed the little golden coloured plate with the two holes, I could click out easily.

I can't wait until the weather gets a little warmer and we have more light out. Seeing your vids at the end makes me wish it were spring already!

Many thanks for sharing it bro. I was looking for a solution to fit 3 point shoes to fits 2 point cleats, then came accross your video on web. You now ligthed up the way forward for me. :)

This was an incredibly helpful video - I was using a Wellgo adaptor, but didn't realize that I was missing that little plate. Thanks. I rummaged around my parts bin and found that I actually had the needed plates. I added the them and tried them on my ride this morning - it worked quite well. I also found that I had a Shimano SH41 adapter and that worked even better (more stable to walk with.) I have Look X-Track pedals, BTW, and no issues getting in or out. Thanks again! My goal is to use 2 different shoes with different cleats (SPD for city/gravel and SPD-SL for road power transfer) with two different bikes without need to change the pedals, so I think I need a dual SPD/SPD-SL pedal - have you run across anything like this?

Just stumbled over this video... exactly the review I needed 🤓 But how did the SIDI-Adapters turn out to work compared to the others (Crank Brother/Shimano) Any final recommendation?

These still going strong? I'm thinking of the wellsGo ones since I bought road shoes that don't have SPD and just SPD-SL

Hello well I'm here at ur home page dont see ur email address to discus the price of the 2005 trek madone so how much would u be asking for the entire bike?

In the future would you just go ahead and get mtb shoes so you don't need the conversion kit or are you happy with using road shoes with the conversion kit?
