I imagine many people see this song differently but this is how I view it: A girl is lost and trapped in her thoughts. She’s empty , sad and depressed. So she takes herself to a place. A place with fake smiles. Fake laughs. An empty and dry land. Memories of her life that have been altered so that they are sad or bad. She realises she does not want to live in a world of fake smiles and dark sadness . She wants to go home. To the real world. The real smiles. The real friends. She wants her happiness back. Her home.
