I loved this episode and think it's so important. Sure, time is money when it comes to work flow and figuring out production and establishing deadlines and playtesting, but what you stand to lose without proper knowledge or advice when it comes to the legality of doing business feels like a much higher cost. I have a much greater appreciation for these types of lawyers now.

Do you have any legal rights/standing when you have a publishing contract with a publisher outside your country and do you need to always seek legal representation in both countries involved prior to signing? Or is it far more advisable to only work with publishers within the legal system you belong to?
  • Wow! This has burst so many of my bubbles..... My son, when he was 16, designed my company logo. I'd like to use that as my LLC trademark. I've used the design on 12 prototypes and now on our 1st retailed game. Since they are the same design, do I have to register both logo & trademark?

My general take is, unless you absolutely have no other way, stay away from publishers.
