You may encounter such things not only in Kenya, but all over Africa. I made similar experiences in Westafrica. What really helped me out is, that I learned the local language, which was key in order to get respected ( and show respect by speaking their native language) and understood.

Horrid. I would have been scared to have a baby in such a place. I would have gone home as soon as I knew I was pregnant. I bet she has bad PTSD from Kenya.

Awee I hope one day they can connect back together....the tears Moffett shed throughout this is pure love when he talks about his ex wife (although he still refers to her as his wife) and when he talks about the birth of his daughter you can just tell that his daughter is the greatest joy of his life....

She is lucky she came out of there alive. As the Brits controlled most of Africa during their empire, I am sure that a majority of them are not welcome there. It's not a place to visit except on a tour with a reputable tour guide.
