Makarska, the Greenest Old Town in Croatia: Yes, Really!

Published 2024-05-08
If you are looking for beach heaven in Dalmatia, head to the Makarska Riviera, a divine spot of endless sun worshipping spot. Lots of apartments have been built in recent years to meet that demand, and this is the main perception of Makarska.

But take a closer look and head into the old town, where something quite special is taking place, as efforts are not only underway, but succeeding, to regenerate the majestic old town, with a hint of artisan craftsmanship and greenery. A major surprise on my recent trip to the Dalmatian coast.

Great informative video. We're traveling to Makarska as part of our family holiday this summer and whilst I was beginning to feel a bit dubious by the fact that nobody I speak to in the UK has ever heard of the place, your video has not only put my mind at ease but made me really look forward to our visit! Thanks Paul!

Me and my friends went there nearly every day during summer. There was a guy selling krofne at the beach. he shouted "kroooooo....fne" for 20 seconds, it was really funny. Maybe someone remember him ;) After it became so overcrowded I havent been there anymore. I will take a look next time when Im in this area again!

Thanks Paul, great to see Makarska coming along in and with a much better strategy for the future. Both sides of my family emigrated from just up the hill in Zavojane and Stilja so I'm familiar with the recent "touristy" onslaught (which is needed of course) but always lamented the lack of usage of the stari grad. Congratulations on the insight!

Love your videos but your yellow flashing subtitles are nauseating.
