The largest things in the universe are black holes. In contrast to things like planets or stars they have no physical size limit, and can literally grow endlessly. Although in reality specific things need to happen to create different kinds of black holes, from really tiny ones to the largest single things in the universe. So how do black holes grow and how large is the largest of them all?

The weirdest thing i’ve heard today is that a tiny blackhole named “unicorn” is bullying a star many times the mass of our sun
  • Ah, my monthly dose of existential dread in adorable cartoon bird format.
  • @SKPetel
every single science channel should adopt your "behind the lies" epilogue format. this is how you improve science literacy while still making an entertaining video. As always, top-notch job.

Quick Update: This video was produced 2 years ago. As of January 2024, the largest black hole is Phoenix A

So in the grand scheme of things, paying my taxes doesn’t matter.

These videos hurt my brain. I love it.
  • @metroschannel
Your art and animations are very inspiring for a creator like me. Your color pallet is so relaxing to look at, I can tell a ton of time has been spent on getting the colors right alone.
  • @IntroSpecktive
Hearing that dark matter could be microscopic black holes that are nearly as old as the universe itself was a mind blow that I wasn't prepared for.

13 minutes of “This isn’t even my final form”

I've always been fascinated by space. Seeing one of those explosions up close and somehow surviving would be the ultimate experience. Or seeing a black hole from the least safe (but still safe) distance would be incredible. Seeing then collide would be the coolest thing ever.

This is probably my favorite video so far from your channel! Excellent stuff!

THE MUSIC WITH THE SIZE COMPARISON AT THE END WAS SO INTENSE
  • @carlosizz89
I've gotten used to universe size scale, what melts my brain is the absurd brightness generated by these objects. Great video.
  • @zilve7
I am not gonna lie. This is my top 1 youtube video. I keep coming back to it every few weeks. Kurzgesagt, I love what you do <3
  • @Grandflea02
"Our sun is like a grain of dust compared to hypergiant stars" "Hypergiant stars get thrown around easily by supermassive black holes" "Supermassive black holes are nowhere near as large as Ultramassive black holes" This is starting to feel like DBZ in terms of size progression.
  • @ShortHax
The irony of a bright object in the universe that we can see and is so far away being a black hole
  • @Kushikarp747
Literally my favorite YouTube channel ive ever seen
