Thank you so much for this. After spending a wonderful hour with you this morning, I would never have known you had a poor night's sleep. You were so empathetic and connected that I experienced healing in your presence. So now, take care of YOU. I send gratitude and prayer for your restoration throughout the rest of this day and night. Thank you for all you do so unselfishly for others; feel the gratitude and love coming back to you from those whose lives you touch. Look in the mirror and feel pride and satisfaction for the gift you give others. Now, go process and restore.
  • Great talk on how sleep affects mental health. Worked overnight for 20 years and only averaged 2-3 hours sleep. The toll it took on my health has taken years to overcome. I finally am learning to sleep through the night

Thank you for this video. I'm 69 and retired and have recently been experiencing sleeplessness - sometimes not sleeping at all. I'm going to try shutting my electronics down after dinner and going out for a walk, then just having that quiet, prayerful reflective time afterward. Thank you for always explaining in such "down to earth" lay terms how our bodies function. I have recently gotten back "on board" watching your videos and moving back toward keto/carnivore. Thanks for all of your teaching.

I've always had trouble sleeping, I suffered a lot of childhood trauma. It probably links with my eating probs, I love the work and the way you present it to us, excellent doc 👍

Man you're videos are always full of such good info. You are quickly becoming my favorite person I listen to on the keto carnivore you know losing weight stuff since I'm doing plenty of research so I can try to get my life back into a healthy way

Thank you for this video today. I hope you get a good nights sleep tonight. :) I was nodding right along while listening. I am the caregiver to my disabled husband, he wakes me quite often to help him. Can't remember the last really good sleep. Often when he's dozing off and I have a moment to myself....it's when I raid the fridge and eat whatever. Stuffing down feelings/frustration/tiredness. Will be coming up with better alternatives.
  • Dr. C...you have been hitting the nail on the head lately. This was very helpful and I hope you’re sleep improves!

"not dealing with your shit in the evening".... true words.....issues of the modern world. We are all in this journey with you. Nice to see medical/scientific mind that can relate to us all.

as an addict myself, listening to your advice from the perspective of food addiction is such a great help, thank you for this video!

YES, this helps! A year after you put this up, it’s helping me today. I decided a month ago to wean myself off my “go to sleep” combination of RX and OTC medications. It’s been going pretty well but the fear of relapse is always there as I get closer and closer to being free of these drugs. Today I will deal with what needs to be dealt with today and spend some time relaxing. My house is not on fire. I am a chronic list maker. I make the list and as I scratch off each item, I replace it with another task. It’s debilitating. Thank you Dr Cywes for another, very important piece to my carb addiction recovery.

I love that you relate how you recognize your struggle and offer suggestions on what to do. I'm experiencing slight heightened anxiousness over an upcoming trip I planned this past Sat. Since the plans were made, I'm suddenly RAVENOUS. So I've spent the last 3 days talking myself off the "food ledge;" going for walks, visiting friends, knitting, reading, laughing at myself over my insidious subconscious attempts to tempt me, and just being proud of myself for recognizing what the triggers are. I'm proud to be one of your followers. 🥰🥰

You are spot on! My doctor warned me that my blood work was indicative of not taking the time for me. A year later I was laid off, then I ended up with plenty of time to process things and spend time with those I love.
  • @janetbarker5104
Oh my. So much truth! I get so upset over things during the day and they follow me right to bed. I toss and turn all night hoping to go to sleep. I definitely need to work on letting things go. I can't control what others do, but I can work on controlling how I respond.

❤️ I really needed this - thank you! This should be renamed “why am I so hungry at night?”
  • @kdolanjr
This is 100% what I needed to hear today. I've felt like I haven't gotten rest in months and am constantly exhausted. After this 3 day weekend with just awful sleep I finally gave in on the melatonin 3mg tab last night and was still waking up hours early. Appreciate you arming me with the knowledge of how this works, now I can actually try and address it.

Thank you Dr Cywes, I needed this reminder! I've slept poorly for the last week and its all the things you mentioned!
