New 911 Hybrid vs Old 911: DRAG RACE

Want to see how much more performance the new Porsche 911 GTS with its T-Hybrid system delivers over the current GTS? Well here I compare them in a drag race, rolling race and brake test with the help of former F1 driver Mark Webber.
Now this may seem a lot like Carwow. But don't worry. This is a one-off here on my personal channel just for a bit of fun and I'll be back on Carwow with all future drag races.
However, I will be doing more content here on my personal cars. And I've just bought yet another one so make sure to subscribe to this channel too.

The new Turbo S is gonna be a rocketship
-
3:04, those spoilers rising in sync was an awesome catch.

For some context an Audi r8 v10 performance with over 600hp does 10.7 secs on a good day, an m8 with 625hp does 11 secs, a gtr nismo with 600hp does 10.8 as well. Classic Porsche. Can't for the hybrid turbo s and gt2 rs!
-
That is the fastest 540 hp car I have ever seen.
-
That hybrid system is actually insane
-
With the zero-lag turbo it’s going to seem even quicker in normal driving
-
More Mark Webber please!
-
WOW Mat you got Mark Webber! Congrats dude! And haha as if we don't have many drag races on the main CarWow channel already! Oh well the more the merrier 😎
-
Wow. That's creeping into current 911 Turbo S territory.
-
Why does Mat have better video quality than Carwow?
-
The 911 is just crazy!!!540 HP and a sub 11 quarter mile.
-
Wish you brought a current turbo for comparison as well.
-
2:32 oh that turbo spool tho
-
Big thanks to Mark Webber. That time is quicker than the turbo S.

The 992.1 GTS is lighter than Porsche now claims it to be. They do this likely to make the added heft from the hybrid seem less. In reality, a manual transmission 992.1 with ceramic brakes and rear seat delete and lithium battery is capable of coming across at under 3350lbs. The lightweight package added made it closer to 3300 - which is gt3 weight territory. For me, the added weight, complexity don’t really make the 992.2 a step forward in anything but emissions compliance unfortunately.

Really glad you were invited by Porsche to be part of the launch of the new 911! And getting to race against Mark Webber! Been following for more than 9 years now. Happy to see your hard work paying you back!

These new midrange 911s with 996 and 997 GT2 power are blowing my mind.
