Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Jenny Liu shares her favorite more affordable Korean skincare alternatives for end-high skincare products. I personally do not believe in dupes as it's hard to find the exact same formulation, however I tried my best to match the key ingredients, intent, and function of each product. Hope you guys enjoy this one.

So glad to see MISSHA get a shoutout - I love so many of their products. Personally, my skin responds the best to Tatcha - but the price is just completely out of reach. It would be great to see some affordable alternatives to some of their best products.
  • Ty for this video ❤ it! Yes please do more of these 🙏 I’ve tried many L Ascorbic acid serums and they irritate my mature dry sensitive skin. Numbuzin 5+ Vitamin Concentrated serum has done amazing changes to my hyperpigmentation & malasma without any irritation and it’s wonderfully hydrating as it contains 5% panthanol. It also has 3 vitamin C derivatives as well as Arbutin, 4% tranexamic acid, 5% Niacinamide as well as heaps of other amazing skincare brightening ingredients & antioxidants. Anyone with sensitivity to L Ascorbic acid like me - give Numbuzin 5+ a try it was a game changer for me 😍

I think that a better alternative for Dr. Dennis Grow peels is the essence of Aha and lactic acid from Isntree and another alternative for vit. C from Skin ceuticals, it is Tiam's vitamin C or COSRX's 13% vitamin C found in Jolse and another alternative for Estee Lauder's serum is Ma:nyo's bifida ampoule 🥰

I bought the Heimish Marine care eye cream. It’s a dream! I will forever keep buying it. ❤
  • Great information. Would enjoy more Korean and Japanese skin care related videos like this.

There are a number of Korean beauty resellers here in the US, but they don't carry everything - just a curated selection, mostly skincare, & every place has slightly different stuff. Such as: Soko Glam (unsure where in the US), Ohlolly (California), senti senti (NYC), Blooming KOCO (California), & Beauty Best (NYC). They're not that much more in cost as compared to items directly from South Korea, but you do trade price for shorter shipping. I've bought stuff from Soko Glam, Ohlolly, senti senti, & Blooming KOCO, and never had any problems.

Thanks for the great review! I've used Missha Essence and Time Revolution Night Repair Ampoule for years, I love the results and they are holy-grail products!
  • @NotImpressed22
I love a good alternative! My favorite place to order is from i herb. Quick shipping, and they have sales so often! Thank you for this video 😊

Great information. I would say Some By Me BHA/AHA/PHA is the closest to Drunk Elephant. Also, you are right - Korean vitamin C is not compatible. Timeless vitamin C is by far the best dupe for SkinCeuticals. The other alternative is Mealove Glow Maker, which has a fantastic formulation, but in my experience, Timeless's formula is much more stable (due to the packaging). I have both Missaha and Estee Lauder, and they are both excellent - I think other fermented Korean products are absolutely amazing, too; for instance, I am currently in love with SKIN1004 fermented CICA cream as the last step to my night routine to seal, 'feed' and repair my skin. A dedicated video about fermented/probiotics Korean products would be amazing AND/OR a video on alternative herbal medicine that Korean skincare does so eloquently would be great! For instance, Mugwort (good and bad), Heartleaf, Plum, Green Tea, Tea Tree Oil, Yam Root, etc - Thank you for your honest content!
  • I stayed away from the Goodal serum for a long time due to previous bad experiences with citrus peel and other EOs--which this serum has several of. But ... I kept noticing it and decided to try it anyway because I just can't do pure L-AA. It has gone really well. I'm into my third bottle with no irritation, and I actually enjoy the scent and application. Not for everyone, of course, but it just goes to show that not all formulations are created equal, even across shared ingredients that you might want to be cautious about.

An alternative to the Drunk Elephant glycolic acid lotion is the Apieu glycolic acid 5% and BHA cream. It softens my skin, I use it every other night, when I don't use tretinoin.
  • @aleslhotak7271
I quite like Cos De BAHA - Vitamin C Seru and Purito SEOUL - Pure Vitamin C Serum. These 2 were working pretty good for me.

Hello Dr Liu.....Great video.....I'm a huge fan of the Estee Lauder Advanced-Night-Repair....I've been using this product on-and-off for over 30yrs. Although I haven't tried the Missha Time-Revolution-Night-Repair....I have tried many, many different serums.....But I always seem to come back to the EL 'little-brown-bottle'....It's the only item in my array of skin-care products, that I'm prepared to pay the premium for :)
  • I also go shopping at YesStyle, so for influencers like you Dr. Liu, you would get major deals. I am an Elite member which you get deep discounts and earn YesPoints to put towards products. Love them!!!
  • @TheTsuha
for estee lauder, i prefer numbuzin no 3 serum, for skinceuticals i prefer jumiso pure cc serum
  • MISSHA IS AWESOME! I have used their products and they WORK. Love it! I am a K-beauty junkie lol!
  • @JelenaP991
Isntree vitamin c is actually good, and surprisingly very gentle. most western vitamin c serums sting my skin, but I had no issues with korean ones. Vegreen has good waterless formula and the use pure vit c and derivative
  • @xavier_lux9167
Hey Jenny, there is a 13% version of Cosrx"s vitamin C serum which had a smell at the beginning, but went away, it was only a 20ml and lasted 2 months, but I found it great with skin texture. Thanks for a great video!
  • @sfkat
Great video, I've been wanting to try the Goodall product, but I just bought the Geek & Gorgeous C Glow. As a swap for the Estee Lauder, I read that the Numbuzin No. 3 Softening Serum was similar. I do like it very much.
