If you saw the live action of Beauty and the Beast starring Emma Watson, you may be wondering how she filmed those scenes with the Beast if he was created using CGI. Well prepare to have all of your questions answered with this behind the scenes look.
Someone get Emma Watson an Oscar because she literally filmed some of those scenes by herself.
Emma Watson is no stranger to working with CGI after her Harry Potter days so she was more than prepared to take on the challenge once again in Beauty and the Beast. The DVD for the film which comes out June 6th will gift viewers with several featurettes giving you a behind the scenes look at just how they pulled off those GCI scenes. One clip in particular of Emma acting with the beast during the iconic ballroom scene has the internet going wild. In order to give Emma an accurate height depiction of the beast to act with, Dan Stevens had to wear his motion capture suit that made him look like a grey marshmallow. How Emma kept a straight face? The world may never know. Check it out.
And if you think Emma having to keep a straight face was the toughest part, think again! The film’s director, Bill Condon says that “Be Our Guest” was actually the most challenging scene to film because literally the entire scene consisted of CGI with the exception of Emma.
You can check out even more behind the scenes looks when the DVD comes out on June 6th in addition to 10 minutes of deleted scenes and the Beauty and The Beast music video starring Ariana Grande with John Legend. What do you guys think about the Beast in that CGI suit? He’s a stud right? Let me know in the comment section below and don’t forget to subscribe to Clevver News. the bad thing about beauty and the beast is not seeing Dan Stevens beautiful face all throughout the movie.

I would have kept laughing and they would have fired me

I mean no disrespect to Emma Watson, but if anyone in this film deserves an Oscar nomination it is Dan Stevens. He had the hardest job of any cast member in that film. One scene would require two different performances from Dan one in the body suit for the motion capture and one after hours in a small dark booth for facial expressions both of which required multiple takes. He trained vigorously to get in shape physically and to get his voice in shape for Evermore. Let's not forget that HE PICKED UP EMMA WATSON WITH ONE ARM IN A 40 lb. BODY SUIT ON 10 INCH STILTS! He had scenes where he was the only actual actor in the scene too. He would have to talk to light up sticks that had the recordings of the characters. Dan was given an acting challenge with this film and he beat it.

  • @steelsheen
Emma deserves an Oscar? How about DAN STEVENS getting an Oscar, he had to do three separate performances for each scene just to bring the Beast to life.

OMG hahahaha I'm so glad I watched the film before seeing this 😂😂

My question is: How did Dan manage to walk around and waltz in that suit?!? They're honestly such incredible actors.
  • @Hazzeled0
to me the real deal here is the sweet sweet Dan Stevens, I mean standing ovation for him, be able to do all that on those very uncomfortable stilts, and waltz with them? He is MY HERO and deserves a lot of credit for this. His effort was beyond fantastic whoa, and somehow he still manages to look oddly hot on that onesie.
  • No one else could have given the beast so much emotions as Dan Stevens did. Well done, my favorite movie ever. Oh, and there was his singing of Evermore. Listen to that song a million times.

Why is the comment section full of Emma Watson comments?! Like yea I love her but this is about Dan Stevens having the hardest job there. He really is an amazing actor wow 👏👏

How being able to keep a straight face, is called "acting" and they do it all the time When auditioning for a role they even have to imagine the scene and talk to themselves. I think Dan Stevens did amazing job in his performance. Doing motion capture is truly an ordeal. Those stilts looked painful and he had to lift Emma during the dance scene. Not to mention the facial expression he makes, he had to record hundreds and hundres of it.

"it was the most boring scene I've ever had" yeah, we could tell in the movie
  • Honestly, if I played the role of Belle, I would just stare at Dan Stevens face and I would be happy. I mean... Its Dan Stevens, who are we talking here about.
