Quick heads up, I'm so used to stalker I didn't realize you can CLICK WITH CONTROL or SHIFT you do not need to DRAG to move one shell. Simply double left-click while holding control or shift, it's much faster! Thanks to Chunow for pointing this out to me!

The MG and AT assistants having to be manually selected and manually transfer their ammo to the MG/AT operators is one of the many mind boggling issues with micromanagement that the devs refuse to acknowledge. Why can't the assistants simply do their job and supply the MG/AT themselves? Why does the player have to micro every last tiny thing in a battle that can have 200+ individual units? It would literally be as simple as making assistants act like mini supply crates with a short radius that would supply only MG/AT operators and ignore everyone else. They could even take it a step further and make MGs/ATs reload faster when they're within the assistant's radius.
