The Supreme Court overturned a ruling from a California-based appeals court which cleared the way for cities to enforce bans on homeless people sleeping outside in public places.
The city of Burien and the KCSO have been in a fight over the controversial ordinance to ban homeless encampments in certain areas of the city. The fight has included lawsuits against both parties.

Ok, then arrest them for public drug use.
-
Someone very wise just said “to destroy America, you don’t have to vote in new laws. Just elect the right people who refuse to enforce laws that are already on the books” I give you this Sheriff
-
Public drug use is legal?
-
Unelected sheriff.
-
King County Sheriff and Mayor need time in jail. WHO PAYS THEIR SALARIES, certainly not the homeless.
-
Put that sheriff in jail, he supposed to be for the people not the drug addicts
-
Arrest the Sheriff.
-
Literally refusing to do the jobs they are paid by the taxpayers to do.
-
Politicians and police cannot get paid, if property taxes are absent. Leave King County and send the proper message. Even Portland figured out being homeless is a crime, if you refuse assistance
-
Ridiculous. There are other choices. Drugs IS the problem
-
Nothing to see here police departments have been doing this for years, it's just no one noticed because they usually don't attract so much public attention.
-
Simple. The city should hire another department or private company to enforce the camping ban. Then subtract whatever that costs from what they pay the King County Sheriff department. King county sheriff is in breach of contract, and the city is entitled to what they paid for at the agreed price.
-
The Feds need to step in and enforce Federal law. Washington state has abdicated its responsibility and its politicians are ideologically blinded into doing nothing. KC residents deserve better.
-
Now you see why they wanted the sheriff to be appointed and not elected. King county council holds the control
-
The sheriff needs to immediately resign. His job is law enforcement not law critique. If you want to be a law critic get a lawyers license. Until then shut up and do your job or RESIGN
-
Fire sheriff.
-
Then the sheriff has to go!
-
Where is the health department? These encampments have got be violating health codes. Would love to see the health department go after the city.
-
Enforce the law or resign or be fired
-
At this point why even have a Supreme Court? States and lower courts just keep ignoring them.
