A man is in custody after being in a standoff with King County Sheriff’s Deputies for two and a half hours at a Bryn Mawr-Skyway neighborhood.

King County Sheriff’s Deputies received a 911 call at about 1:30 p.m. from the family member of a man who had arrived at an apartment building on South 114th Street. The family said he was not supposed to be there because of a court order.

A spokesperson with the sheriff's office said at some point the man got a gun, barricaded himself in the apartment, and started shooting. Deputies said they’re still investigating where those bullets were going, whether it was in the air, towards deputies, or others nearby.

Officials said there were people outside watching Seafair while this shooting was happening, so authorities had to start evacuating those individuals out of the area, while the man was shooting.

  • There is no S. 114th St in Renton.. That's Bryn Mawr and the area is unincorporated King County... Get your act together people.
  • So I'm assuming that since he was banned from the home by court order that means, I'm assuming, that the court order was due to a previous domestic violence incident. I know under federal law that ppl convicted of domestic violence can not own a firearm. So if my assumption is correct this person was illegally in possession of a firearm, violation of a court order and not at all a representation of a legal weapon owner. Funny how you never hear stories like this about ppl who follow the law. Sucks that ppl like this are the only representation of of firearms we see and make the 80 million legal firearm owners in this nation look bad. If we really had a gun problem and not a ppl problem then there would be way more incidents of gun violence. The numbers and statistics show that legal gun owners are not the issue.

Not a shock. It's one of the worst apartments in Renton.
  • Why is everyone complaining about the news coverage? that's weird!!!
