Prime Minister Narendra Modi walks outside his official entrance route to greet citizens and gathered , diplomats and other guests during the 68th R Day celebrations here, yet again breaking away from tradition. He gives a big namaste to Mr. Chidambaram and other members of the opposition as well as members of the ruling party such as Mr. Rajnath Singh.

This is the second time that Prime Minister Modi has walked down Rajpath, the last being on the occasion of R Day the previous year. For obvious security reasons, it is planned that he take a pre-determined route to the official seating place. Being a spontaneous leader, Mr. Modi decided to greet guests on both sides of the route.
