Damn... Surface Pro X came out in 2019? That feels like 10 - 12 years ago.
  • @bradavon
The Microsoft SQ1 was just an overclocked Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx. That's it.
  • Good analysis, but one part was very lazy. This is when it is claimed the only reason to buy a windows laptop over a M-based Mac was work programs, backwards compatibility or gaming. There are a LOT of reasons to prefer windows. For example: If you want a touchscreen, you choose windows If you want a laptop you can use a stylus with, you choose windows If you want a laptop with upgradable RAM, you choose windows If you want a laptop with upgradable storage, you choose windows If you want to future-proof your machine with wifi7, you choose windows If you want a dedicated graphics card, you choose windows If you want a two-in-one form factor, you choose windows If you want to spend less than $900, you choose windows If you want 16 gigs of RAM for under $1,400 you choose windows If you want 2 tbs of storage for under $3000 you choose windows If you want a form factor like the Surface Laptop Studio, you choose windows If you want a form factor like the Zenbook duo, you choose windows If you want a 17 or 18 inch screen, you choose windows If you want an OLED screen, you choose windows If you want to easily share photos from an Android phone, you choose windows If you want a machine weighing less than 2.5 pounds, you choose windows If you don't want to lock yourself into the Apple Garden, you choose windows Macs are perfect if you need a powerful machine with great battery and you can pay the Apple tax. If you don't care about the items above, go for it. I had an M2 Macbook pro and it was great. But let's not pretend there were only three rational grounds for choosing windows over Mac. There's a reason windows has almost 90 percent market share. Lots of reasons, actually.

Note to self never come to this podcast for any kind of real specs always check your specs
  • @bitshuffler1
If it runs fairly well and is quiet and cool, I'll be back in the MS camp.

Looking forward to the new surface pro. With it being able to outperform an m1 MacBook Air, that’s more than enough for me. Never had any problems with the m1’s performance, plus it’s a 2 in 1 with great battery life? I’m sold

I have a pro X which is my random "I need a bigger screen" couch PC. They've made a lot of big strides with it software-wise. I'm holding out hope that the new big rearch they've done to support arm trickles back down to it and it gets passively way better.
  • @Kratos30000
Worst thing is no version of the surface pro will feature the fastest variant of the X Elite, the x1e-84-100.
  • To be fair to Windows, I've been surprised how much I find myself using my SP9 without the keyboard on it. The swipe style touch keyboard is surprisingly good.
  • @pootsman6722
The new Surface Pro keyboard is disgustingly expensive!!
  • @manis77
Totally off-topic, but what's the jersey Marques was wearing?
  • I do hope these PC’s do end up becoming a success, even though there are some privacy concerns… 🙁
  • @speakez12
total recall and inception are not the same thing. For one, inception is about placing a thought not a memory
  • @roquemocan
What may sell me Recall is an example someone gave: "I want the Powerpoint with the fishes" and even though the word "fish" wasn't in the PowerPoint, just an image... it was found.
  • @elliekim6666
Wasn’t this video released days ago ? Could of swore I heard all this before lol
  • @pjmorgan
I'm just excited at the idea of being able to find a document on my computer faster than using Google, or just recreating the bloody thing.
  • @Yimir11
It goes back further than 2019 with the first generation surfaces Windows RT. With the Surface RT.
  • @brianwitte3761
Recall features were already done by AI companies like Rewind (now Limitless). So, the screen recording is already something that has been out there. I have had it on my MacBook for almost a year now. Very useful. Limitless has taken a slightly different approach now, but their Rewind product (exactly like Recall) is still active and functioning.
  • @adequatequality
All I need is for the golden age of PCs to arrive where I don’t have to pay Apple prices for a low heat and low fan noise laptop with good battery life. That’s all I ask. I don’t even care about screen quality or anything else. I’m praying Qualcomm’s CPUs are successful

I remember really liking the Surface Pro X when I saw it in the wild. Someone had come in to the shop I was working at and was using it to demo a design they wanted printed, and I asked about it. He didn't know much, but told me what it was called. A few months later I was at a Microsoft store and a couple of us bought Surface Pro 7s. I looked at the Pro X at that time too, and thought it was cool, but couldn't justify the price or features compared to what I wanted to use a Surface for. Then I proceeded to basically never use my Pro 7 because the interface always felt clunky to me. It sat on the shelf gathering dust for years, until I finally sold it and bought an iPad Pro, which I use almost daily for all kinds of stuff.
