A Story Skip Option SHOULD NOT BE CONTROVERSIAL | Genshin Impact

"I'm aware that you can speed through the delay by pressing a button". Even then there seems to be a slight cooldown or something on how fast you can push the button in succession and then there are those very strange lines of dialogue that just literally can't be skipped for no damn reason.

I'm like the polar opposite of Ratheil, I play primarily for the story and I love to read, and I do all the archon, world, and side quests - AND I NEED A SKIP OPTION. I read faster than the dialogue is voiced and if the dialogue is just paimon wanting to eat or a character I don't like exchanging 5 minutes of pleasantries then I want to skip it. The option to skip will benefit all types of players.

It doesn't exists in Genshin only to stimulate numbers of clicks and time you spend being in a game. Also no matter what you do you won't force people who doesn't want to read your story into reading it. It's just a matter of grinding free statistics for investors I think. Can't think of any other good reason why it's still not in the game.

Having the option is always better than not

Just introduce the skip button later a bit after the intro of the game and that negates the account rerolling. I think having double accounts is already a chore enough with exploration etc that they can just let them have the button lol

The bad thing about the dialogue and how clunky and EXTREMELY wordy it is is i'll go into a quest caring about listening to it (yeah even when its voiced) but then because it drones on i'll click right through it anyway. So many quests I just gave up on caring about listening through to the end because it's either not written well or because 75% of the character feel like they are writing a college thesis about shrimp or something that DOESNT matter. I think the worldbuilding is really solid, but the moment to moment decor is a slog..

If skip unlocked at AR45 and wasn't available for Archon Quests then everyone would win.

For a ski- button, I think they need to add a way to replay quests.

I get they try to be like Mass Effect or Witcher but those games has those dialogue choices for a reason.

I think this video really hit every point that I can think of. As you said I know people that quit Genshin because of how long the story was.

I personally would never use a skip button since for me the story is part of the experience, but not everyone is me or like me. The option won't harm anyone. If someone wants to play but not see story, that should be up to them.

I didn't care about this issue one way or the other until I started an alt account to get myself through some sick leave. On my main account I still wouldn't use it but lack of skip became quite a sore spot on a repeat playthrough. And with that said... DAMN man! Not the first time I got this impression but you sound like the polar opposite to me in EVERYTHING media related! I found myself agreeing with your point even as I died inside listening to your media consumption habits. To each their own. This is in no way meant as an attack, I just found it funny. Personally I'd sit through a 100 hours of unskippable genshin story before I'd willingly touch borderlands again and if a film makes me take out my phone then its categorically not a film worth watching. With a few notable exceptions, a piece of media either gets 100% of my attention or not a single shred of it.

I never understood the "Genshin is a story-based game" argument, because it really isn't? Or at least the main point of the game isn't just playing the story. Games like Ace Attorney or Danganronpa are story-based games, they are literally visual novels. Why would you skip the dialogue of a game that's only dialogue, yknow? But Genshin is an open-world RPG with so many different ways to play that saying there's only one way to play is quite frankly ridiculous. You literally don't even have to finish the main archon quest to do 90% of the content in the game. I don't particularly care for the unvoiced sidequests in this game and that's okay because I'm still enjoying myself playing events or doing stuff in co-op with my friends. But if someone really loves immersing themselves in the world and meeting characters in quests like Jeht's quest or the Aranara quest, then that's okay too because they're still having fun!! And both ways of playing are fine! Stop policing how people should have fun, it's a game y'all it's not life or death

Genshin community when I say I'd like more gameplay and endgame content: "Genshin isn't meant to be played hours a day, all day. It's a game for people to just log onto every day for a few minutes at a time, then go about your day. If you want a game to play for hours at a time you're playing the wrong game." Genshin community when I say I'd like a skip button so I can go about my day: "Genshin is a story game, you're supposed to pay attention to the story. You're supposed to take your time and pay attention to the story and lore. If you want a game to just skip through, you're playing the wrong game." Two of the most incongruent statements ever. That's why I don't pay attention to this blasted community. If I say I want to immerse myself in the world, story, and hours of play, I'm told this is a game to just play for a bit and go about my day. But if I say I want a skip button so I can go about my day... I'm told I'm playing wrong, and should spend hours of my time on story and lore alone.

The dialogue being tied to its own camera angle/camera panning made the dialogue even harder to skip...

"babysitting" the cutscene is SUCH a good way to put it. the illusion of choice infuriates me beyond belief. it absolutely IS an "are you still watching button" except the dialogue literally never changes no matter what you choose, as opposed to HSR, which has really witty, meaningful dialogue differences based on your different choices, even the simple ones. as the game has continued, genshin's "choices" have become so asinine and childish, and are just there to make you waste more time on scenes that have no meaning. it pisses me off so intensely

I want the skip button purely for playing my alt accounts lmao, I do experience the story in its entirety on my main account but I don't wanna see it over and over again with such frequency 🥺
