Lake George Tornado - July 16th

On July 16, 2024, around 6:00 PM, a tornado passed through Lake George, impacting several areas including Northwest Bay, Narrow Island group, and the Mother Bunch Island group. The tornado caused significant damage, especially in the Mother Bunch Island group where approximately one hundred trees were downed. The storm also led to extensive damage in other parts of the region, with fallen trees and power lines causing widespread power outages and road closures in Warren County. The storm prompted Governor Kathy Hochul to declare a state of emergency due to the extensive damage across upstate New York.

The tornado's winds were reported to have gusted up to 80 mph in some areas, causing severe damage to infrastructure and natural landscapes. The National Weather Service had issued multiple warnings throughout the day, advising residents to seek shelter and take precautions against the severe weather.

    Snakenado! Looks like Tongue mountain got hit. Love that area, we've been vacationing in Bolton Landing for years. Thanks for this great drone footage!
