The one thing that always strikes me as funny about Aela as a spouse is the random encounter where she can be kidnapped by bandits or vampires. When my character gets informed of the fact I can imagine the conversation to go this way... NPC:" Dragonborn, I...I have bad news. Your wife has been kidnapped by..." :"Wait..we're talking about Aela...tall slighly muscular and athletic Nord woman...member of the inner circle of the companions...fights like a hellcat...can turn into a 7'6" werewolf at will. You're telling me she was kidnapped. What did they use to subdue her...Mammoth traquilizers?"

I for one always prefered Followers for wife material. I think it gives the game the "battle-couple" vive to it, with each one defending and saving the other, surpassing dangers of all kinds.

Why not Jenessa? She's a dual welding ranger dunmer, who isn't scared of getting her hands dirty. Also when you dismiss her she does state how lonely adventuring alone can be. She will sometimes call bandits N'wahs too.
  • I have heard that you could get married in the game but did not know which NPCs were actually going to be available to the dragon born. Would be interesting to see if one could have a wife for each home in the hearthstone dlc.

There's no "best wife", Just pick a woman you like most. I always marry Shahvee because I was so touched by her way of life of being happy because sadness leads you to nowhere according to her. Needless to say I'm saving her from the hatred of Ulfric and his lackeys from where she lives and moving her to a better home located at Lakeview Manor.

I picked Mjoll for one reason, you can't kill her by accident. I have killed Aela and Lydia by accident too many times, so I usually just leave them at home.
  • Another fact about Ysolda ,if Belathor dies Ysolda takes over the shop . Then marry her and you have a discount at the shop + profit share .

I like Jenassa's character, and you can marry her, though she's apparently not very young anymore and even admits as much right before the ceremony if you talk to her.

Brelyna was for me, especially after completing her quest. Her quest was silly and I love it, having a good time together. And because of it she became my first crush in Skyrim, and I maried her immidiatly

Ysolda is a skooma dealer on the low. You can find a note written by her in the cave behind Sleeping Tree Camp, in the Whiterun plane. You find the note on some dead guy and it talks about some deal she made with the Khajiit caravans (naturally) on the buying and selling of the sleeping tree sap narcotic you can harvest from the tree, but her guy got pummeled by giants before he could deliver the "product". You can confront her about it and she proposes a deal with the Dragonborn, in which she buys the sap off of them for a higher then average price and then trade it with the caravans.

I always go with Aela. I love her archery and her angry sass when we move into Heljarchen Hall

Breezehome is not Lydia's house, it is the dragonborns if you buy it
  • Man I really need to get myself a wife, that's one aspect of skyrim I really never payed attention to lmao
  • Personally, I find some of these ladies irritating. If you're a stealthy character Lydia can be a pain in the backside and Aela is a bit of a nag. My favourite is Jenassa, the Dark Elf you can hire in the Drunken Huntsman. Costs money initially which is a drawback but she can do light or heavy and her chatter is far softer and easier to deal with. She also doesn't blunder in as Lydia does

I had the greatest satisfaction marrying Muiri. After learning her story and completing her assignment as a member of the dark brotherhood, we share a secret and trust. Besides, I think she deserves a little more happiness in life.
  • @Sinis69
Uhh..Lydia doesn't own breezehome..if a player does not own a home Lydia will be stuck living in dragonsreach until player purchases Breezehome only then Will Lydia move in with the player as a Stewart hence why there's always a bed that says owned..cause a player cannot sleep in it due to it belonging to Lydia automatically..and even after the player marry Lydia if they so choose to the bed will remained unavailable for the player to sleep in..

Glad to see Sylgja on this list, she’s my go to wife in the game.
  • @geert574
Taarie is best, with cheat room u can make her follower and she has all sorts of cool lines like 'death is but the time to sleep forever' and 'nothing is beyond my skill' plus she interacts with many things and keeps her distance

With the heartfire DLC and a plantation, having a wife who is a merchant bring much moolah like rain. Plus, the occasion bone and scale from dragon to sell, many gold accessories like necklace and ring from the blacksmith training. Man, Its so easy being rich in skyrim. Fr fr no cap, Ysolda is top tier wife material for making that virtual life easier. Just go on an advanture and return like Once a month to collect the share and profit. On the other hand, Lydia got that motherly voice. The caring ,soothing and with the right mod! A very, Very good companies to bring on a journey to just walk and bask in the sunlight of Tamriel.
