I was waiting for this comparison 😊yay!

I’m holding off buying a colour e-reader until Kindle release their colour Kindle in 2025 which will use a different colour technology. But the Kobo does tempt me as the UI is great for serious readers.

I was tempted to get the Go but i had the Page a while back and it seemed like when i switched between the kindle app and pocket app and the boox reader, i had to fiddle with settings and it got tiresome. I do like color so i settled on the libra colour and while i dont love the plastic build, i like the ease of use, the pocket integration and the overall user experience with kobo software. Thanks for another helpful video!

Kobo for quality. But Boox for flexibility and benefit of having Kindle support? So winner is Boox, after tweaking settings (and hopefully system update)
  • Thanks for the in-depth review of all these ereaders! I'm a bit techie myself so I thought it would be better to go with go color 7. It is definitely the most flexible enough out of all other ebook readers with it's customizations. Boox has a really clean and smart look with a slightly dark display panel than kindle which is better for nighttime and daytime reading of graphic novels as per me. I also like that it has android app support that allows us to have more functionality and scope of improvements in the future.

Does the ghosting issue in the boox also happens in plain b&w books or just when viewing images or manga? I dont mind some ghosting in the occasional picture in the book, but if it happens in every plain page it would be annoying...

Great video about all three readers as I was eyeing them for the USB-c socket and that they do colour. Unfortunately most of my ebooks are on kindle or the bookwalker app so I'm jumping between phone and Kindle Oasis (with it's annoying micro USB socket) but yeah ur video did get me wondering just how useful is colour for ebook reading and if I'm tech savvy enough to get bookwalker running on any of the 3 devices.
  • Unfortunately when A device like the Boox has so much versatility it brings complexity, but the positive thing is far more custom settings, and the biggest is colour adjustability which the others don't have, but in the long run can be the best choice out of them all if you get it right, and the great thing can customize how you like it

For me on Kobo Libra Colour I like the inherent darkness. Had Libra 2 before.
  • Kobo still has Ghosting, but its not common, but can still be some at times
  • Had the first BOOX colour. Had 3 replacments, and all poor screen quailty and all had bright spots, so was reluctant to go with another BOOX

How would you compare the screens of the Bigme 751c and the Boox nova 3? i know the boox is older and the bigme is a bit less expensive
  • @ptannous27
I originally had the kobo and swapped it out for the Boox for the versatility but I’m a little disappointed because of the reasons you stated. The image quality in 3rd party apps is just bad and I can’t figure out the best settings to go with each app. I hope they can fix these issues with software updates.

Can you do a similar comparison of the 7/8 inch black and white eReaders? I'm worried about the Sage battery
  • I much perfer the Clara, the 7" readers are heavier when also using a cover. The 6" has better portability and much more comfy to read, especially reading in bed
  • Very nice review. I am tempted to buy the Book Color 7, just because the Page isn't available anymore on the site. And I have a question Kobo Color has a text to voice function ?
