If Tomodachi Life ever comes to the Switch they'd better include all this customization stuff

You know... It makes me happy that Ross is putting a lot of emphasis on author credit when it comes to art based distribution of media. I know how much it sucks to have someone be like, "you made this? ...I made this." Makes me glad it's being looked at, you know?
  • It's a little bizarre, because Miis built in past platforms' mediums HAVE had a field for author attribution...
  • @cherry7397
The no artist credit thing confused me at first. I was scrolling through people's Miis thinking "what, these people all made the EXACT same characters??" It's kinda sad, i'd love for there to be a way to trace it back to the original person
  • I wondered why Nintendo doesn't just update the Switch's own Mii Maker with this stuff. 0:54 That's probably why.

Another tip to note, glasses are the only object on a higher layer than the nose, so if you want to hide the nose, add glasses in the regular mii editor, then replace them with a shape in the makeup editor to cover them up.
  • This is definitely one of those games where I: - spend hours making thing - realize it looks like trash - find out someone made a vastly superior version - use that instead with varying degrees of shame

Not being able to customize expressions and change body skin color is a huge crime.
  • An interesting thing i found for the eye layers specifically is that there are about 7-ish general layers stacked on top of each other like this: >Upper Eyelashes >Upper Eyes >Upper Eyeshadow >Mii Eyes (ie the default eyes on the mii; it appears in all three "eye" makeup layering sections) >Lower Eyelashes >Lower Eyes >Lower Eyeshadow With the Eyelashes and Eyeshadow*, they DO NOT follow the Mii's eyes, and can be used in front of or behind the actually animated part, the "Eyes" layer. (*I have not been able to test the eyeshadow yet, but this is the most likely scenario) The Eyes layer is animated based upon the Iris of the Mii Eyes, so anything in those layers will move left and right as the mii looks left and right. The most frustrating part about this is that in the "Expressions" list, There are no "looking around" expressions so it was quite annoying trying to find this stuff out, as the only way to reliably find this expression is with Relationship Level Ups as there are certain animations that show this based upon the two genders present (I believe the first 3-ish levels gender doesn't matter, but up to 9 they have to be opposite). I sincerely hope this doesn't get buried, as this info will most likely save a whole lotta headache for those that don't know.

Me when Miitopia was announced: Eh. I've already got it on the 3ds I don't need the new one. There probably won't be much new stuff. Me after seeing the new mii creator: MY GOD......

Tip: since makeup only changes face skin tone, on your normal MII go the darkest skin tone possible. It makes it look like they're possibly wearing gloves or boots.

This Is the BEST thing they could have done for a game built around Inserting custom characters Into your playthrough! Unlimited potential for character creation!
  • @joshcarbine2191
I just hope that the full game will add some new amiibo skins.
  • @LittleCart
They killed the Search function for access codes, like bruh how am I gonna find decent-looking niche characters?
  • @JojoTheVulture
They should just replace the mii system on the next console with this
  • It is genuinely impressive just how much work must have gone into making this creation system
  • @aarontaylor4918
"Getting this wrong will cause the face to collapse in on itself" Oh so no pressure then
  • @spamberlea
Really hope they add creator credit in the full version as well as a way to search and sort your miis, it can be hard to find certain ones in a batch of 500...
