I always thinks it's great to see a pianist performing still at this stage of their life ! It's mesmerizing to see. Thank you Pollini.
  • The end of an area....Thank you for Maestro Pollini for the music.
  • Everything sounds great, the orchestra and Pollini, so clear, so deep, there is no lie in that music. Fantastic.
  • He was a master excellent pianist beautiful performance and one of the best piano concertos I always said and I say everyday a life without music is not life and also I say very proud thanks I am 80 years old and not 21
  • This performance and this concert touch something very deep within myself. I just cry. Liberating tears of elevation and love.
  • I performed this with Claudio Arrau at the Evian (France) Music Festival in 1981. Breathtaking and magical. I was on second desk 1st violin, and at one point Arrau leaned over to us and whispered, "musique de chambre." Still gives me chills.
  • In the second movement, the synergy between Pollini and the orchestra is shattering, emotionally shattering. What an absolutely divine rendition of an enlightened composition!

Buon viaggio maestro e grazie per tutta la musica, ieri, oggi e sempre.
  • I went backstage and met Pollini after he'd played this concerto at the RFH in about 1978! A wonderful man - and his hands were massive for his height. Bear paws!

The second movement sings like a nightingale! This piece is marvelous and Pollini is great! A pleasure from beginning to end!

This piece was composed by Brahms when he was 18 years old, but when it is played by a master pianist who has reached maturity, we feel a sense of wonder. We, as listeners, often fail to notice how the youthful aspirations of a minor composer are elevated and any sense of discomfort is smoothed out by adults.

Well damn. The orchestra gave this Brahms concerto full justice. Everything sounds so crisp and alive. Props to the sound engineer for making this happen too.

Sadly, pianist Maurizio Pollini passed away only a few days ago. So cool to watch an elegant senior pianist playing. I like his unspectacular airs during play.
