Beef Stew | Cooking With Brenda Gantt 2023

Published 2023-07-25
Cooking with Brenda Gantt, Andalusia, Alabama.

Beef Stew - I realize the weather is hot !! But sometimes I get a craving !! I texted my Andalusia and said, “ I’m cooking a one pot meal for Sunday dinner for all of us. So vote and that’s what we will have. Chili, spaghetti,or beef stew. Cape, Bay and Hannah chose the Stew.

I never heard form Walt or Banks ( Scallywags )😂. Anyway, it was delicious. The corn bread had the perfect crunchy with the stew. We like pepper jelly on our corn bread.

If you have never tried it -do. I think you will love it. Some of my followers sent me pepper jelly that they made. Many Thanks it was perfect !!! Banks ate peach preserves on her corn bread and she dropped spatters of jelly all on the table cloth. I’m sure it will wash out with no problem.

Hope y’all have a wonderful Tuesday. Today I will eat out with THE Lunch Bunch. We are always hungry and ready to laugh and enjoy good company.
Remember to Hug Someone today. They may need it. !

At its most basic, cooking means applying heat to food. Whether the food is baked, fried, sautéed, boiled, or grilled, it's all cooking.

People still cook some foods over an open flame, in addition to using tools like microwaves toasters, and stovetops.

She makes stew just like my Grandmothers! I love it because both Grandmothers showed myself and my baby sister " Kim" how to make stew . When my parents decided they wanted to go to Arkansas football games, my sister and I both thought , what a party. There were things they both, with the help of our Aunt Mae and Aunt Freddie and Aunt Shelby taught us that we served with happiness over the years. My Grandma Davis taught us how to make fried pies and fried corn and the best cornbread in the world. My Grandma Lockwood showed us how to make yeast rolls, egg noodles, fudge, apple dumplings, and strawberry fig jelly. All of these things were taught to all of us, but my little sister and I were so fasinated it gave them smiles. If I could go back in time, it would be then!😊😅

My husband likes me to add frozen peas right at the end of cooking my beef stew along with the other veggies. It’s good and adds a nice bit of color to the dish.

I’m alone and disabled and I find if big quantities is cooked I can freeze in small containers. It is so much better then frozen dinners. Frozen dinners are full of salt and taste chemically

If the flavor is in the fat then I am delious!

As for cornbread, I always heat my pan up really hot. Then, when you cook the cornbread it's extra crunchy.

I was taught to brown the meat with flour (salt & pepper)and start it with a little bit of oil and then when it’s brown add the beef broth or vegetable broth… but I’m open to suggestions ❤

YUKON GOLD POTATOES ARE SO GREAT. I NEVER EVER PEEL THEM FOR ANYTHING.
  • @kandyboyce3748
I usually fry my meat until it is browned and then I deglaze the pan for a rich broth
  • Cut a lemon in half a squeeze the juice over the cutting board. This has a chemical reaction with the onion when chopping. Results… no tears when chopping that onion. Love the tip of the knife under the cornbread. It was déjà vu back to cooking with Granny Fanny in her kitchen. Thank you for sharing. You made it looks so easy with no crock pot.

Love beef stew!! As it happens, I’m cooking a piece of beef in my slow cooker today with carrots! Making a potato casserole to go along with it! God bless and much love! 💕🤗🙏🏻

Growing up, Mom's beef stew with cornbread was just about my favorite. Except for mom's fried chicken and mom's spaghetti and mom's roast beef and mom's meatloaf, mom's French toast and mom's mashed potatoes and mom's biscuits
  • @cathycross2345
I added a bit of honey in my cornbread yesterday and it was delicious
  • @randaboyd3389
You made me nervous with that knife when the carrots came on the scene 😂. Love watching you. Stew looks amazing.
