The most fearless racing series there ever was
-
And people wonder why people miss this series so much
-
I was at the track that day... it was my first open wheel race I attended in person. I come back here to relive it now and then and to show people how awesome and insane the racing was in those years in CART.
-
One of the greatest races of all time.
-
Those cars were beautiful!
-
Absolute travesty that we never saw these chassis' race at Indy. Would have been a spectacle to behold, and possibly a "neeeeewww traaaaaacckk reeecccoooorrrd"
-
A great race and empty stands. Thank you Tony George.
-
Indycar needs Michigan and Chicagoland back ASAP
-
The sounds of these cars makes me rock hard. God damn I miss this.

I attended the 2001 CART race at Michigan. It was unbelievable... 60 lead changes! This track, designed by the same engineer who designed Daytona (Charles Moneypenny) is MADE for speed and side-by-side competition.

@TheZadak the current indycars are normally aspirated and make around 630 hp with a maximum rpm of 10,500 rpm. the amazing turbocharged champ cars in this video were running at 16,000 rpm and making around 900 hp depending on the amount of boost they were allowed at each track. in 2003 (i think, it may have been 2004) champ car switched over to cosworth engines that were limited to 12,000 rpm, and made around 750 hp depending on the allowed amount of boost.

No wonder that Montoya was so bloody quick in F1. Jesus, CART drivers are brave boys.
-
4:38 Wait, Mad Max goes off the course with a problem AND THERE WAS NO CAUTION???? THOSE WERE THE DAYS!!!!!!
-
Fabulous driving by Mike & juan.now that's racing!
-
Michael knew that Montoya would winn ,if he gets behind Marques, that`s why Michael tried to bump Montoya. A very nice race with alot of action!
-
I'd love to see open wheel racing coming back to MIS. I went to to IRL races there, and each one was far better than any stock car race. Now, they race downtown, still a good race, but nothing like draft packs at MIS.
-
Holy shit.. there is not one racing class today that give us so intense driving.. awesome!
-
If Murray Walker commentated this epic finish, he gonna be NUTS!!!!!!
