Full coverage of the semi-finals in the women's 100m hurdles event as Australia's Sally Pearson and the USA's Dawn Harper and Kellie Wells all advance to the final at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Since 1896, athletics has been on the programme of each edition of the Games of the Olympiad. Its presence on the Games programme has allowed its popularity to increase across the world. This popularity was also strengthened by the creation of the IAAF in 1912. Women's events appeared for the first time at the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam, while the men's programme was standardised as of the 1932 Games in Los Angeles. Although at the beginning women were authorised to participate in only some events, today their programme is almost identical to that of the men.

I ran track for about 3 years, those moments before a race are so scary, I can't imagine this. I'm nervous for them

I think they should give them 2 tries if someone makes a false start. like sometimes they are just so in-the-zone.

Bruh, they just jealous that she has very fast reflexes๐Ÿ˜‚ the millisecond she heard the buzzing noice she went for it no need to cut her off like that.
  • " cant believe what shes done" host made it sound like she killed a baby

The Olympic Committee should seriously rethink pulling someone out for a false start after 4 years of training. That's a hefty chunk of one's life. They are obviously anxious and want to get it on and over with. Methinks there should be, at least, one general first warning rule.
  • I don't understand why they pull a person out that has been training for that event for 4 years...4 YEARS just because they accidentally started earlier. I mean, to me it looked like she went on the sound! When it buzzed she took off before anyone else...but it was on the sound.
  • Can't a girl get a second chance? Surely it's easy to give a false start and not in purpose.

when that woman got disqualified, those guys were touching her and leading her off the track. I freaking hate it when people touch me, i would've been like 'get away from me!'.

poor woman!! :( God. It happens. And it was a mistake, nobody here would ever try to cheat cause it would be seen 100% by those cameras. I used to run 600m for school atletic competitions and I was terrified moments before the start. Sometimes I froze for a moment when I heard the starting sound instead of starting to run. It's sooo nerve-racking. I think they judges or whoever should have understood that and should have given her a second chance. :/
