It might surprise some people but the Jedi Order's relationship with the Galactic Republic is more or less unofficial and based on good faith by both sides of the arrangement. We take a look at why this endangers both organizations and a recent attempt to carry out an external review on the jedi is a terrific idea.

If you rewatch the episode in which Ahsoka was accused, you’ll see that the Council’s hasty judgement of her was pressured by the Senate and Supreme Chancellor. That wasn’t a typical Jedi trial.

"His only weakness was any body of water over 5'6" 😂

No wonder the people of the galaxy didn't bat an eye at the Jedi being wiped out by Order 66 for turning against the Republic at the time.

It's funny to talk about the Senate being weary of the Jedi. In the SWTOR MMO, there was a side quest where a Senator proposed the idea of an Order 66-type law in case the Jedi ever rebelled against the Republic. At the end of the quest, it's revealed he's laughed out of the Senate chambers.

"The jedi were much more disciplined and structured than the samurai bullshido code" bruh you had me dying there.

We haven’t used bald eagles as a unit of measurement in years. We used cheeseburgers now

I'm not the biggest fan of The Acolyte, but I'm glad that you are here to point out things I would have otherwise missed because of my feelings towards it.

The Jedi are a mash up of the knights Templar, the samurai, even King Arthur myths. The “force” is based on the pre Christian idea of “Spiritus Mundi” an idea of a “world spirit” if everyone does good all will be good and visa versa if all do bad all will be bad… similar to the idea of karma. “Force Users” are sensitive to these changes in the force and are able to tap into pathways within the force to communicate with all the global creatures. corruption of the ppl of Lucas’ parallel universe is what darkened the force which is what lead to the down fall of the jedi. The darkness weakened the good but strengthened traditional users of the dark side like witches and the sith. The problem with “Star Wars” after Lucas let go of it, is the fact the writers have very little understanding of the history as Lucas used it to creat his parallel universe. The writers have resorted to giving force users magic as it were. They ruined SW as great basis for story telling. Lucas created Star Wars as a way of understanding the forces in his own life. The us government was fighting in Vietnam at the time, he grew up Christian but Zen Buddhism was important in Northern California where he grew up and questioned its role in his life and the life of others, he grew up loving mechanical and tech stuff-his love for hot rods and airplane’s is obvious in his early work. George is Luke: a young man in search of himself… he created a parallel universe as a test bed, as it were, to gain understanding and insight as to his own life. This is true art!

I totally agree with Alan here. I run a large military construction program and I welcome audits, even requesting they be run on my program. I want to know the parts of my program that are doing well and especially the parts that are not. I view it as a chance to improve, and gain advocacy for parts that are struggling. Much of the time it is a chance to advocate for insufficient manpower and resources to do the job right, or even to divest of those parts if resource requirements are too great.

I have that same issue with bones, I've never broke a bone, weigh more than you'd think and I just sink in water. I can swim fine but I always look like I'm drowning because I have to constantly move to stay on the surface, it sucks.
  • @mRibbons
I'm glad you are covering Acolyte objectively and creating thought provoking lore-centric discussions. Your content has helped me stay curious and engaged with the show. I think episode 3 was the low point, but it's picking up steam again and only getting better.

I find some parallels between the Jedi decline and the knights Templar
  • Really, not to start a religious argument here, but I would have thought a modern comparison would have been the Catholic church. They have their own City with their own laws, their own mail system and their own military., and we know that they advised spiritually as well as give advice to political leaders... the organization of the Catholic Church strikes me more of a comparison to the Jedi organization before the fall

The only Chanel on YouTube that talks about star wars, and you force magic can not change my mind
  • Man I never thought about it... But 10,000 space cops would NEVER be enough to control the galaxy if there was mass like riots or something. The US has 700,000 cops for over 3 million people, were talking 10,000 for countless trillions? I doubt they'd even be able to control Coruscant even with powers and lightsabers 😂😂😂😂

Welcomed an audit while I was working for Air Force Space Command. One of the best experiences of my career.
