Will and Jamal dive into Deshaun Foster's UCLA Bruins Big Ten opening press conference and why despite disappointing, it doesn't really determine anything that will translate onto the field as well as diving into Eric Bieniemy's pass-heavy, West Coast offense heading to Westwood, and which offensive players it should enhance.

  • Having spent four years in the locker room with Foster I can tell you... he's never been an overly vocal guy. He's reserved. I don't know if the rah rah stuff will ever be a part of his paradigm but I also don't think it'll matter. He knows how to talk to his players. He'll get better at the media stuff.
  • Foster’s unfortunate inability to speak in front of press was a disaster. Hopefully he has the ability to influence his team to play and win.
  • From YouTube: Deshaun Foster has a phobia in public speaking. When he was in fourth grade, they had to pry him off the men’s restroom to receive an award. I wish someone would ask him about this.

There's a lot of coaches who speak really well but can't do the things needed to recruit and win. I just hope Coach Foster applies a sense of urgency and detail orientedness to the team that I usually don't feel when he speaks. I'm honestly very excited about the coaching staff he put together. In my eyes it looks really solid and it seems like the right people are on the right seat on the right bus.

He’ll be fine, can’t let that media day bother u
  • Fos will never be a speechmaker. Actions speak louder than words. J Mike's role will suffer this year a la last yr. We gave up an almost dead last, 42 sacks. Gotta get the ball out quick and keep Garbs on the field. Prob w the short passing game is TOP challenged but if we can execute it like Peyton Manning we may avoid "only 3 things can happen when u pass and 2 of them are not good". Gonna need offensive TOP to keep are D off the field. A little of the "Touchdown" Tommy Maddox in Garbs. .
