This is how to get through the hedge maze and kill the vampire boss in Stage 03 as Carrie on Normal mode. The trick is to follow Malus and in the cases it's too far to see which way he went, make a right turn. After you get the Copper Key you can just go back into the villa to save before looking for the right door in the maze.

  • anybody else get to this part as a kid and literally turn off their n64 out of sheer terror?

That friggin maze gave me nightmares for ages. Even watching this now so many years later, it's still very unsettling. 😱
  • This game is a underrated gem and I will forever point out that it deserved more love.

This game for me is what you would get if you mixed action platforming with survival horror. And I LOOOOVE IT

I'm 40 and this games atmosphere is so dark the sky is always gray
  • Funny how Frankenstein and his dogs mysteriously disappear once you approach Malus at the door.
  • If you lead Frankenstein to the bridge along woth his dogs, and you jump over the bridge's end, they freeze in place.
  • There's such a distinctly unique atmosphere in this game, no doubt in part thanks to the jilted direction. (I once read the team had no prior knowledge of 3-D game design, which is why many moments feel like linear Classicvania sequences.) Even so, the game is effectively creepy, striking a balance between its platformer roots and the oppressive horror of Resident Evil. Those vampires especially creeped me out as a kid, lol. I wish we'd get at least a port someday, but seeing as the game is commonly written off as garbage, I don't imagine it'll ever happen :( Thanks for the nostalgia kick! Really appreciate how you took time to observe some of the finer details, too, instead of simply gunning it from point A to B. It gives a better grasp of what the game has to offer.

As a kid, the gardener scared me more than any other character in the game.

One time, they got me through the wall after I exited to next area. Was pretty scary.
  • I've been playing this game for years and that maze is still a pain in the ass.
  • I always enjoyed going into that fenced-in section of the hedge maze. Frankenstein and the dogs will just run around it in circles at high speed.

He looks like Frankenstein and Pinhead combined into one
  • Me: (When he appeared) “There are no shadow under him!!! He must be a vampire!!” (During chasing) “hmm?? He does have shadow…” (Caught up with him) “He doesn’t!! He doesn’t!! …which is right then??”
