My favorite thing about this song is that John Fogerty wrote it for his kid.
-
CCR had many high energy songs that endure through time.
-
"Bother me tomorrow, today I'll find no sorrow" even when I was a little kid I loved that line when my dad played this in the car.
-
My dad had a sheet music stand and sheet music that he would set up at the foot of his bed, and play guitar while singing this song. When we went to my sister's Christmas choral concert in '95, there was a sing-a-long and people around us were enamored by his singing. He passed 6 months afterwards. Love you, dad.

Growing up listening to this music. We really didn't think much about it Back then and now I listen to to it and I say to my self, man we had the best music ever !
-
These reactions are always so positive. What a personality. If you’re reading this and not subscribed.. why not? This is the place to get cheered up, and the music choices are outstanding 👍
-
Green River by them!
-
John Fogerty still sounds great today. His children are following in his footsteps, all great musicians. He is a national treasure.
-
Jamel, the line,”look at all the happy creatures dancing on the lawn”always gets to me😀
-
This song reminds me of my late dad, who passed away in 2012. He always loved this song!! 😢
-
Saw John’s band a few years ago on TV and was impressed with how he’s still going strong. His son is a force to be reckoned with too, up there sharing the stage with him - the young man is fantastic on the guitar !
-
I think it was inspired by him coming off the road in time for his kid's birthday party.
-
You really seem to look at the music through the same lense as a lot of us did back in the day.
-
If every neighborhood had a neighbor like you the world would be in a much better place thank you for being you
-
I love the part "listening to Buck Owens".
-
Other notable CCR songs for you newbies are: 1) Proud Mary 2) Green River 3) Run Through The Jungle 4) Who'll Stop The Rain (Great song!).
-
This is one of my favorite songs. Such a happy feel. ♥️
-
Listen to this band before every patrol with my team at our gun truck. God I miss them boys. I would be smiling just like them too

This song was for his son I think. He sings about "Looking out his backdoor," and seeing all of the lawn ornaments and pottery animals and Lawn Nomes etc. That must have been some Back yard! I'm sure he had plenty of money from all of his record sales, to be able to make a nice place for his family.
