That moment where Jasper briefly emerges in the light of recent revelations, tho. "You, you, YOU!"

As malicious as Jasper is, you have to give her props. She went toe-to-toe with a Garnet, a fusion, survived the spaceship right after being sent flying by Garnet into an electric field, and still didn't poof. Even after all of that, she still had enough energy to attempt cancelling out the fusion with a gem who's able to leave an entire city in a drought with a cracked gem, and eventually managed to do so. No wonder she's Rose's rival (in a way).

I think it's very interesting how this soundtrack is set up. You can hear small traces of Lapis's theme and Jasper's theme...but they are always overpowered by Malachite's theme. It's like even the music is reflecting that Malachite has taken control.

This theme tells the story.... Lapis and Jasper fight for control for individuality. While the calls of Malachite echo in the background..."Give up" "We're one" "I'm one" it just gets louder...... Jasper's theme....she fought the good fight but she is the first to go....Lapis resisted well but its over. "Im not Lapis anymore, We're Malachite now" . Malachite's theme plays they are gone there is only....Malachite........ We are Malachite.

I love how Jasper and Lapis' instruments fight for dominance, instead of working together like a stable fusion. And as they realize that they are one now, Malachite almost forcibly overpowers and takes over their instruments, as if she were trying to destroy the gems that made her up and make the theme hers and only hers.

I love how you can hear bits of the Lapis theme leitmotif in this, especially from 0:52. It comes across as really creepy and sad here

The 7/8 time signature, the dissonance the timbre, the celesta with the synth drum kit and just GAH EVERYTHING ABOUT IT!!! You can really here the conflict, then Malachite's own part takes over ( fitting! ) Well done, Aivi and Steven. Listen to ‘Collusion’, 'Malachite’ and then this. They’re an ominous trilogy!

I like how it alternates between both Lapis and Jasper's themes. I have faith that Lapis will come out of it okay and be on terms with the Crystal Gems a little better. Still on pins and needles as to when Steven will be able to heal the Gem Monsters.
