About The Red Sleeve (옷소매 붉은 끝동):
In Korea during the first half of the 1700s, Yi San (Lee Junho) is an aloof and perfection-loving young prince. His father’s killing haunts him, although it leaves him in the position to take the throne once his grandfather – the cruel and ruthless current king responsible for Yi San’s father’s death – dies. He has resolved to become a benevolent monarch who will reform the law when he eventually takes the throne, but the way his father was killed has scarred him emotionally.

At court, he meets a young woman named Sung Deok Im (Lee Se Young). Yi San falls in love with her and tries to convince her to become his official concubine. But Sung Deok Im is strong-willed and free-spirited. She is also intelligent enough to understand that becoming a royal consort to the future king is a prestigious role, but one that would restrict her freedom and likely bring her little in the way of joy. But Yi San’s love for Sung Deok Im is true, and she starts to understand that forming a union with him could ultimately benefit his troubled realm.
This drama series was based on a 2017 novel by Kang Mi Gang.

“The Red Sleeve” is a 2021 South Korean drama series that was directed by Jung Ji In.

No one could ever make justice to the real life story of Uibin Seong and King Jeongjo like Lee Se young and Lee Junho. Their chemistry and their acting skills are just TOP NOCH. No wonder this show was a huge hit, this is a masterpiece (all the actors, the writing and cinematography are sublime)
  • Poor Deok Im. It’s so sad that Deok Im couldn’t truly be happy. That’s probably why she couldn’t/didn’t express her love. She’d rather keep those feelings to herself, knowing that was the only thing she could cherish as her own since everything was pretty much taken away from her. She loves him but at the same time, she misses her freedom. She was trapped within the palace walls and what’s worse is she couldn’t fully have him. Even if they officially become family with the baby, she can never be his wife. 💔
  • The drama has ended but I don’t think I can move on from it! It’s undoubtedly one of the BEST series I’ve ever seen! Absolutely loved the characters and storyline…hoping to see Lee Junho and Lee Se Young together again in another series be it a historical or modern drama—they have an undeniably beautiful chemistry! I’m definitely a fan-girl of these two🥰

I love his silly happy face when she asks him if he can feel it and when she calls him out. Such great acting. It really makes me feel like a fly on the wall watching a very intimate scene of a couple just being loving. I'm crying...again

it's the way Lee Seyoung adds these subtle touches that makes her acting just so absolutely fantastic...her holding his hand affectionately throughout the scene- it makes the whole thing just that much more natural... just stellar acting ㅠ Junho as amazing in his role too- they're just both so good ❤

what a beautiful moment, that's so cool that nothing else happened after this scene🙂🙂🙂🙂😭

In love with his scene. I'm glad they use WHEEIN'S Ost as well.
  • I hate that he felt like she would never truly love him, everything she did & the way she looked at him says I Love you❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
  • Many people are confused about whether she loved him or not but I don't see where the confusion comes from. Deok Im loved the king a lot. She loved him so much to the point that she ended up giving up her everything to him. The king loved her a lot too! She was his favourite consort. But he was the king. He had a lot on his plate. She could never be his biggest concern, his kingdom and duties came first. On the other hand, for Deok Im the King was her only duty, she could only wait for him to come to her. The king didn't realise how lonely Deokim became as a consort. So she always held her friends closer to her because they were support system. The King couldn't make Deok im his priority (Cause he had to rule a kingdom) Deok im also chose to make her friends her priority.
  • Man this episode broke my heart. I don't think I have ever felt so helpless and torn for the main leads since sons of Anarchy.

a little happy moment with such a sad undercurrent. The drama was great, their life was so sad. Real life is both sad and happy like she said. Excellent work from the whole crew. It doesnt matter how many times I watch it, it makes me cry.

And for me, the drama ended here. Just got the chance to watch this drama and to think that it came from a real story just make me sadder. Anyway, I really hope that Seyoung and Junho can have another drama and this time, make it happier for them and for us.

😭😭 so happy but so sad til the end

spoiler: i was a tad disappointed they never showed the queen. i wish they had gotten into more of the details of their actual relationship together, the queen or the new consort, etc. i think i wanted it to be more like jang ok jung living in love though. lol it was still a good drama though.
