LYRICS:
Been tryin' so hard just to talk to you
Haven't heard half of what you want me to
Hurt so bad over where we've been
Don't know how not to go back there again
I know what I want to say
How can I get it through to you now in some other way
Like
There was this woman
And there was this man
There was this moment they had a chance to hold on to what they had
How could they be so in love and still never see
That nothing could be sadder than this woman, this woman and this man
A stranger's eyes and a lover's face
Still no signs of a better time and place
Have we lost the key to an open door?
I feel the need to reach out to you even more
It's a circle we're going 'round
How can I get us out from under? It's gonna take us down
See
There was this woman
And there was this man
There was this moment they had a chance to hold on to what they had
How could they be so in love and still never see
That we can get it back again
This woman, this woman and this man
For all we got to lose
It's so much a gain
That we could come this far and leave it behind
There's only you and me to blame
There was this woman
And there was this man
There was this moment they had a chance to hold on to what they had
How could they be so in love and still never see
That nothing could be sadder than this woman, this woman and this man
How could they be so in love
And still never see
That we can get it back again
This woman, this woman and this man

It is 2024, and I still listen to this song on repeat. One of Clay Walker’s best songs. I hope to one day find this kind of love.

This song helped my wife n I make it through our hard times. Amen
  • If my husband is listening to or reading this, I love you and I’m still holding on to what we have. I’ll always be here waiting.

Life’s short, nothing is promised, and some things last forever. I wish it was our love that lasted forever but instead it’s the pain I’ll carry with me for being so selfish and watching you walk out the door 🚪. One of the saddest things that can happen in life is when someone you shared your best memories with becomes a memory, you’re never the same after that 😢

The '90s was the last decade of good music! After that Country took a nose dive into the unknown!

Whoever’s reading this I pray you are happy and become extremely successful! GOD bless you all

They don't make country music like this anymore, I'm proud to from this generation of country music!
  • Do you know this is the song that got Cole Swindell hooked on country music at 11 years old? His parents were going through a bad divorce at the time of this song's release, so he would listen to it over and over again, and I imagine he bought Clay's "If I Could Make a Living" album, because back then, he couldn't YouTube it any time he wanted!

This song once had meaning to me ... Now ... Has no feeling to it anymore .. Clay seemed to always come out with the perfect songs that made us get stronger ..

I remember dating a girl who said she didn't like this song and from that moment I knew we didn't have a future.
