Just some down to earth guys, in their backyard, in their everyday clothes, no special effects, no auto tune, just jamming out & loving music **PRODUCTION COST-BAG OF WEED** 😁 Loved your reaction !!! The funny thing about this song, is that it isn't about a person at all, it is derived from an 18th-century marching cadence about a flint-lock musket with a black painted stock; the "bam-ba-lam" lyric referring to the sound of the gunfire.

One must admit, though, that these dudes actually know how to PLAY the shit out of their instruments. Their timing as a whole is stinking impeccable........ Just sayin'
  • This song is based on a military cadence from prior to civil war, where "Black Betty" was many things: in the first verse she is a musket that was very inaccurate due to lack of rifling, so the child (bullet) went wild (off target) and gone blind (the heavy smoke blocking vision after firing the weapon), 2nd verse refers to is alcoholic drink (in the 1700/1800's) of available for cheap to give to soldiers, and 3rd verse is an actual woman who "serviced" the soldiers at a local "men's club" in Alabama. "Bam a lam" is the reference sound of the musket firing and the beat of the singing cadence

I LITERALLY grew up with bands like this jamming in my front yard in the 70’s! We lived in the country & people from the next little town over 5 miles away could hear & would fly over to join us! πŸ˜‚πŸ₯°πŸŽΆSo FUN!!!

Man that drummer is beating the hell out those drums. Fun and great song.πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–

I'd go have a beer with them and listen to their music as they are a great band... I would bring my guitar AND HOPE THEY LET ME JAM WITH THEM.. CHEERS
  • @willieboy3011
This was a one-hit wonder back in the day. So much better watching it live. Orange-blue shirt singer, backyard band, with cheering girlfriends, hell back in the 70s, I would have been over there every night partying down.

I would bring a case of beer over to their house everyday !!!!

This is how I grew up!! πŸ˜‚πŸŽΆπŸ’•My father was a band leader for 50 years & my siblings had friends who were in bands & everyone was always at my house & in the yard jamming!! Such super cool memories πŸ’ž
  • The whole song is a double entendre, but it's actually about a civil war musket (rifle)...yep the song is that old, but through many different versions. It was a military cadence.

That was the 70’s dude...you bring your lawn chair, beer and enough pot to share! πŸ˜‚
  • I was raised in Ala and played this music in the 70s and 80s. Rehearsal was often visited by police when we cranked it up to 10!! Fortunately many of them were our biggest fans. If you take it into the yard, you expect a crowd to show before too long and they don't come empty-handed. We knew who black Betty was.

Biz brother, I've been a subscriber for a couple years now, and i think this reaction is my favorite. I dont remember another video where you chair danced this much, or smiled as muchπŸ˜‚ Great stuff❀
  • Black Betty was a musket rifle. This is actually a very old song- long before this version. They are amazing musicians. I remember my parents listening to this when I was a kid in the late 70s!🀣

These dudes move next door to me I be dancin' all day! This is one of my top 5 favorite songs, guitar playin', the drummer, of all time!
  • I grew up with this music. Great, guitar playing, you really feel the beat. It really is about a ( musket) rife in the civil war. This is how I grew up in the 70's. We had a group that would perform in the back yard.
  • @RickWright66
Song is about an old flintlock musket nicknamed Black Betty. In its original form, this was an old army cadence used when marching. The musket was manufactured in Birmingham, Alabama. A lot of soldiers reportedly were blinded using it.. it was not very reliable.
  • @Reno_Slim
I don't know any of their names but if the bass player's name isn't Randy, I'll be disappointed.

I haven't had a band move next door, but I lived in a place where this old grand dad, retired Crab trapper would start up a smoker at like 5AM and start smoking Mullet. Never seemed to tell anyone about it, just started putting fish on racks after having taken his boat out and netting them that night. . . The whole neighborhood started prepping for a street party, cooking food, buying beer, setting out tables. dragging stereos out of the living room into the yard . . I was 15 it was Amazing!!
