Fur Free W. Hollywood Campaign Kick-off, West Hollywood, Jan. 29, 2011

Published 2011-02-07
The "Fur Free W. Hollywood Campaign Kick-Off" took place in West Hollywood at Triangle Park on Jan. 29, 2011. The event hopes to demonstrate that WeHo (West Hollywood) MAY be the first fur free city in the United States, setting precedent for the rest of the world. Having already declared itself an Animal Cruelty Free Zone in 1989, West Hollywood has since passed the first cat anti-declaw bill and a ban on pet stores selling dogs & cats. It also changed it's language, declaring human companions of animals to be called "guardians" instead of "owners."
Now, John D'Amico is carrying the fur free message forward in his campaign for West Hollywood City Council by proposing to outlaw the sale of fur in West Hollywood!
Scores of demonstrators took part in this seminal protest. The protest will be ongoing and is scheduled every Saturday at varying locations throughout the city until the city council election in April. Those interested in participating are urged to contact the campaign at www.ourweho.com. "What greater gift than the encouragement of kindness to animals".-REP
