We recently visited Dave Houseman's incredible Chicago, Denver & Pacific Railroad to demonstrate the Museum Quality HO Scale GTEL 8500 Horsepower "Big Blow" Turbine locomotive.

With railroad, road number, and era-specific details, as well as industry-leading features like frog clank and curve squeal sound, our Museum Quality “Big Blow” Turbine sets the bar high in unparalleled realism.

In addition to LED-lighted headlights and number boards, the Super Turbine also features LED-lit class lights that can be cycled between white, red, green, and off when using a DCC controller.

To learn more about the HO Scale Super Turbine or to purchase a 3-unit set for your layout or display case, visit our website at ScaleTrains.com or a Select Retailer.

I was a ten year old kid living in central Nebraska 3 city blocks from Union Pacifics main line. No one can imagine the roar that these jet locomotives produced. They would shake your ribs inside your chest. Many cities banned them from running inside city limits so they were towed by standard locomotives through town. We called them model D-50 Veranda

Absolutely Incredible!,,, Those Turbines sure are at home on that layout!

A friend of mine bought one of these when they first came out a few years ago, after you guys visited our club. Hands down the best model of anything I have ever seen in HO scale.
  • I have turbines 2, 26 and 30. 2 and 30 are Overland models while 26 is your Rivet Counter version. I plan on getting the Museum Quality version soon then I'll have both grades of turbines. I plan on doing a 4-Way Shootout for my club's newsletter after that. Can't get enough of these beasts!

One of the guys at my local MRR club has this and a lot of other UP stuff. And it's model railroad eye candy, even for me being an Amtrak guy.
  • @tomryan943
You guys make great locomotives!!!! Will you ever decide to produce engines from the 1950s???
  • Another question. In this video the big blow #30 have a 24,000 gallons tender but my model of big blow #30 (2016) have a 23,000 gallons tender. Why?

Idea: What if the GETEL’s were sold in liveries other then the Union Pacific livery. For example, an All Black Livery (I would like that). I believe that if modelers want to be creative, they should be given the choice to be creative, and that includes having the ability to pick something unique and different. They can choose to paint new liveries on locomotives, and make them their own.
