Cheap Trick original band members perform their signature songs 1979 I Want You To Want Me and 1978 Surrender (4:00) on the Barclay Center stage at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on April 8, 2016, broadcast on HBO. Rick Nielson's son and current drummer Daxx Nielson watched from the audience.
Kid Rock inducted Cheap Trick into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, bearing witness to the group he called “a garage band in sheep’s clothing.”

They chose the key(s) of Surrender based on Robin’s highest vocal range in 1978 so he could really get a nice tone, for him to still sing this well 38 years later in the same key is unbelievable

They played so great that night, but they always play great. Most inspiring thing about their induction and performance is how they and Bun E. Carlos put all the legal bullshit and animosity between them aside and played for their fans who were celebrating the long overdue, make that VERY long overdue induction in the rock and roll hall of fame. Bravo fellas! Cheap Trick are a true class act.

There are bands that keep going that should stop, there are bands that stopped that maybe should have kept going... Cheap Trick is the rare band that should keep going and still keeps going.

Finally, the song is done at the right speed. They were slowing it down far too much without Bun there. LOL, he's makin' them work for a living again.

There are plenty of bands from before or after Cheap Trick that should be inducted. But man, in the case of CT I believe they were SO deserving of being inducted. And I’m not even from their era nor I consider myself a fan. I’m glad they got in. Seeing this performance put a smile on my face, and I really needed one. 😊🎸👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
