Hope this change of pace was enjoyable for everyone! I thought it'd be a nice time to talk about the question I get most often online as well as a little backstory for anyone who didn't already know how I got started.
Wishing you all a wonderful week and if you have any questions pertaining to this video or such, feel free to email me at [email protected] and I'll do my best to get back to you.

Also, I'm so incredibly excited to share the new merchandise that's coming next week! I'll be announcing it first on Instagram so head on over there if you're interested :))

A while ago I commented on your first “open a coffee shop” videos and said that I was living my dream of being a barista through you. I’m happy to say now that I am on my 3rd month of being a barista and have just been promoted to a supervisor.

I love this video because being a barista has the stereotype of being a basic job to take before you can work your career, but it's interesting to hear from someone who aspired to be and continues to pursue being a barista
  • @gregswatches
With the knowledge gained from yours and Mr Hoffman's videos, I just landed my first job as a barista in a local coffee shop! Thanks for the vids!
  • I’m a starbucks barista, and i wish my experience was more like that of an average coffee shop. It’s hard to get that same feel when there’s so much going on constantly. It’s more fast food feelings than coffee shop sometimes. But I do very much enjoy it still
  • I think coffee is like beer with regards to taste. Very few people like the initial taste, but like the other effects it has, over time our palettes adapt and learn to like the tastes, opening up a world of exploration

I also really wanted to be a barista as a teenager and even all the way through college, but never actually went for it. When I asked myself why I never did, I realized—as much as I love coffee and coffeeshops, it wasn’t about that. I always looked up to baristas because the coffeeshops I went to were always very queer spaces, and as a young queer person slowly discovering my identity, the baristas made me feel safe and welcomed, and created a space where I could comfortably exist as myself. Now I carry that with me and try to make myself a safe person for other people in my community—whether there’s coffee involved or not!

You know, so far there is only one thing that I don't like about Morgan's videos, that's that I get to watch someone make amazing coffee and then not being able to take a sip.

I applied as an Apprentice Coffee Roaster and I messaged the owner on Linkedin to see what he looks for in applicants and he actually replied to me and said he would look at my resume! Thank you and your videos for teaching me the world of coffee <3
  • @akidazwari
I'm here for the way coffee vibe is presented. A perfect ratio of calmness and chaos. Good to know that even barista spills coffee sometimes
  • @temperatetimes
I've always wanted to run a cafe, so it's great hearing your barista origin story
  • @Allison-rz9pi
As someone who is designing my own coffee trailer business, I've been losing steam as I realized the amount of work in front of me. This video made me remember why I want to do what I do; bring that traditional cafe experience of relaxation and a homey feel and make people happy. Thank you Morgan, cheers! :)
  • This is 100% accurate! As much as being a barista can be stressful and daunting, it can also be incredibly rewarding and fulfilling. It’s all about finding that balance
  • I miss being a barista so much.. I’ll never love a job as much as I loved working at a coffee shop. 😢 I hope one day I can do my favorite job again!
  • Morgan- all black outfit from head to toe and wears super industrial barista boots pink socks That's the highlight of this video. You can't convince me otherwise.
  • @korohacker
Being a barista for 2 years back then was honestly the highlight of my 20s. So many experiences, both good and bad, and as you mentioned, it's a special environment that is hard to replicate elsewhere. Customers who are saints, and customers who are Eldritch abominations, and everyone in between. I ultimately quit because of terrible management towards the end, but maybe I'll try re-applying at a new place after the pandemic settles
  • @manansethi6271
After watching her 1st video... I watched her channel in just two days!!! It's shocking how easily she explains the basics of coffee and how to use a coffee machine and that too in a simple way, not like many others who just throw random terms at you!!
  • I just got a barista job after years of wanting to and loving coffee shops, I know customer service will have its difficulties but hearing you talk about why you love it really resonated with how I feel about it, cant wait to start :)
  • As a barista who's been burned out on and off throughout, and also less-so before the pandemic--these words were very encouraging and gave me great things to think about during my shifts :) Thanks Morgan! <3
