This is just the saddest, vicious cycle of hell! I’m so glad you made it through! It seems so unfair that you go through so much pain while you’re in the throws of anorexia and then recovery is so brutal! You’re a strong, strong woman!

Muscle pain and water retention, yes! I am recovering from bulimia/ binge eating disorder + laxative abuse . Some mornings I wake up and feel like I’ve been hit by a train.

Oh gosh, I'm crying so much, but I needed to hear this. Thank you💛
  • This is not a topic I have personally seen on ED's. Thank-you so much for sharing it! Hearing your descriptions of the damage that has been done because of the physical manifestations of Anorexia and the body's response being a painful transformation is so informative! I am working toward a career as a Dr, and this is such a helpful perspective. Well done on your recovery journey, you are doing so well! <3
  • thank you, i resonated a lot with your story and your video encouraged me to keep going 💛 sending love from australia

This is so helpful. I made the choice to push completely through and go all in 7 months ago and the edema is wild. I’ve also never heard anyone explain the numbness and it’s so true. Thank you.
  • Thanks for sharing your experience with water retention. I actually experienced this with binge eating and people don't talk about it much, if at all.

I needed to this video to make me sure I am ok because going to the doctor and them scratching their heads because they have no idea what was going on with me and I was so scared. Thank you for this
  • 9:15 this happened to me :( I went to several different doctors with pain and major swelling(like 5-8”) and only my primary care believed me, but still had no idea what was wrong or how to proceed. I even went to the ER, right before I relapsed, because I was so swollen and in pain that I thought I might’ve had appendicitis. There, they just told me they didn’t see any bloating. Of course…because I was already thin, so it didn’t look like it would on a person with a higher /average body weight. I’m sad that I didn’t see this before. I was 3-5lbs off my “goal weight” which I’d been at previously and felt “safe” at, and relapsed after all that with the bloating and pain, and my RD also majorly triggered me after asking what my triggers were and doing exactly what I answered with lol. I just couldn’t do it anymore. Now I’m back in recovery but I’m in a lot more pain than before. I kind of wish I didn’t have to give it up but I’ve been so exhausted. I wish I’d seen this previously - thank you for putting this out there. I wish my RD would’ve helped me more with things like this and combating fear foods rather than obsessing over my weight. That really hurt me.
  • this was so helpful! I felt like I was just not recovering and getting worse

I don’t know if you’ll see this comment; since you made this video a long time ago. I’m just seeing this now. Thank you!!

I have the absolute worst water retention in my face most noticeably (I have a really slim and bony chest and stomach, do you think this is because I have done a bit too much of facial exercises, to the point where my gum bleeds). It really sucks cause I am still an underweight and really frail but my face is just a chipmunk and my nose is so plump too :( kinda just as you said). Thank you so much for sharing your experience though, it definitely helps me not feel as alone. It just really makes me few depressed cause I’ve kinda messed up my face at the moment, I’ve made my facial muscles bulk due to exercises, and of course the retention too :( Thank you for the video though Edit: Ik it’s bad to have a set diet really whilst recovering, but would a low sodium and sugar diet be quite good whilst recovering?

This was just the video I needed, I'm now 1 and a half month into my recovery and I've had all the symptoms as you. I have baby cheeks again! but what about your hair? Because my hair keeps falling out, and it's so frustrating, when you just know you can't do anything about it. And also, how long lasted your recovery and for how long had you had anorexia? Thanks for the helpful video!
  • @jessoo7505
thanks that was helpful. Id like to know about the hair fall if you've experienced that because I lost almost half of my hair . I'd like to know when/if it will ever grow back?
