ABOUT THE OXFORD UNION SOCIETY: The Oxford Union is the world's most prestigious debating society, with an unparalleled reputation for bringing international guests and speakers to Oxford. Since 1823, the Union has been promoting debate and discussion not just in Oxford University, but across the globe.

The Oxford Union is deeply grateful and encouraged by the messages of support in response to our determination to uphold free speech. During our 200 year history, many have tried to shut us down. As the effects of self-imposed censorship on university campuses, social media and the arts show no signs of dissipating, the importance of upholding free speech remains as critical today as it did when we were founded in 1823. Your support is critical in enabling The Oxford Union to continue its mission without interruption and without interference. You can support the Oxford Union here: oxford-union.org/supportus

America, The United States is not a "democracy". We are, by the Constitution, and Bill of Rights a Constitutional Republic. There is an absolute difference.
  • Populism thrives in a meritocracy. Those who oppose populism owe their fortunes to a kleptocracy.
  • what a ponce, basically he is saying that they must come down to are level like we are beneath them,. completely out of touch if he thinks he has anything in common with the average person.
  • @paulduffy697
He has no clue, America is a Constitution republic …He’s talking about climate change, but not war 😅
  • His real mesage is "we must pretend to be populists to rid ourseleves of populists"
  • "The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence." Article 4, Section 4, US Constitution By law, Democracy is illegal for the Federal government to practice and enforce, save for powers delegated to the people

It’s not popular to see those who are different as lesser than. It is popular to question the billionaire class donors of: politicians, big tech, big pharma, legacy media, the military industrial complex and political parties

He should of had most of this memorized before speaking. Presentation is awful.

What bothers me about this debate is that while both sides are at loggerheads over whether populism is good or bad, they are all 99% in agreement about the contents of politics.

doesn’t even sound like he’s managed to convince himself very thoroughly

You have been weighed measured, and found wanting. Nice try, but you're probably on the wrong side. Pelosi thanks you for your help.
