The manufacturer must have saved lots of engineering $ by converting tube form factor to transistors. Sort of makes sense that it used 2 9v batteries since the original tube form factor would needed all that room for the B battery? Cowhide case is in nice shape.

Those GE tophat tansistors were very depedable.
