Bob & Paula’s story is probably not your typical. After Bob’s successful career in management consulting and enterprise technology sales and Paula’s time on Wall Street... they found themselves in a position ready to retire and carve out the next chapter of their lives. With 45 years of marriage under their belts and no kids, the world was their oyster. They now spend 9 months a year based here in Bangkok and 3 back home in America.

I grew up as an expat kid in Bangkok, Jakarta, and Singapore in the 90s, where my father worked for the State Department. Returning to the US for college, I found it amusing how different the culture was—less friendly and welcoming compared to Southeast Asia. Experiencing diverse cultures early on shaped my perspective, and I'm grateful for it. Shout out to Bangkok International School!

Can't believe it, I met this couple a week ago in a pub named Bangkok Mojo when I traveled to Thailand, and had short talks with them. What a coincidence.

    ช่องนี้เป็นหลานคุณคริสแน่เลย ขอให้ช่องปัง ๆ ประสพความสำเร็จนะครับ
  • The title of this video caught my eyes! Love this couple, their energy and attitude. Although I am Thai and younger than they are, I can no longer deal with the chaos and the heat in BKK. I can say that Thais love them because of their attitude, not just because of their ability to pay. Welcome to Thailand 💕

This couple has great energy like their outlook is the glass is half full instead of half empty!

What an inspirational couple. Fantastic interview. I wish them all the best, aging gracefully as the alternative sucks. 😅😊
  • What a great interview! Bob and Paula are a great couple fitting so well one with the other. That changes a lot from the usual "living in Thailand with 500 US$ a month" stories that you find so often on YouTube. Another very interesting perspective on a retirement life in Thailand. They are definitely "Retired Working For Themselves"... and that's perfect!

Well done Adam , this fabulous couple come across so well on camera thanks to your style and the structure of your questions . Whats more one only has to read the comments not only to see how impressed viewers are but also how viewers have warmed to Bob and Paula who, i for one , am grateful to for them for their very valuable insights and willingness to share useful and informed content with an honesty that's simply refreshing ( Thank you Bob , thank you Paula :)

Thank you Adam, one of the most informative expat episodes I’ve seen that explores a higher budget range not widely covered on YouTube. Keep them coming!

I couldn’t agree more 🙏🏻 I hope to retire in Thailand and return to Bangkok with my Thai wife in about 20 years or less.

Great Video! Bangkok one of the best Healthcare systems in Southeast Asia.
  • @lazaruz4096
I once read that Thailand's medical care is the only country in the region that is certified by Europe. Therefore, it is no surprise that their medical services are world class.

I have been living in Bangkok since June ‘ 23. This is hands down the most informative video I’ve seen recently expats in Bangkok. Terrific.

This interview was great!! A couple that actually reminds me of ME (except I retired to Chiang Mai)!! I see comments about the fact WHY they choose to live in BKK if they can afford to spend $10K plus a month. Having worked in Saudi (oil industry) all my life I am also lucky enough to afford a good lifestyle anywhere in the world - BUT chose Thailand (specifically CM). I had initially considered Amsterdam - but after a few winters there PLUS the homogeneity of things I was glad to leave for Thailand. (Don't get me wrong the Dutch and the country are wonderful - but for me now I prefer just a yearly visit.) I know that if I wake up tomorrow and want to move elsewhere, I can do so very easily but the MAGIC of this place is a hard drug to fight!! Just for the record - I am living in one of the more expensive condo's in CM and definately do not deny myself frequent trips and all the latest electronics (hello Apple Vision Pro!!) and etc. but I have yet to have a month when I have come close to pending $10,000 per month while in CM!! It only when I visit the USA that I will spend that much per month. (But then again I am single).

I like your channel, Adam. I think you’re doing a fine job. Looking forward to more. Keep up the great work. I’ll be moving to Bangkok myself in the near future for the fifth time.
  • Adam, I’m really enjoying your new channel. You’re an excellent interviewer. Keep up the good work!
