On April 17th 2024, the UAE witnessed its heaviest rainfall in 75 years from late Monday through Tuesday night, surpassing any recorded precipitation since data collection began in 1949.
Many tourists and residents had no choice but to get of the taxis, private cars and buses and started walking to their various destinations.

I saw people casually walking on the highways. They couldn’t take the metro since it was closed, and it took them three hours to 5 hours to get a cab if you are lucky.
Stuck in traffic, I parked my car on Sheikh Zayed Road and waited for a few hours to see if the traffic jam will decrease so I can continue driving home, but it didn't get better for hours.

"One cab driver said he’d been in Dubai since 14 years but he had never seen anything like this,"

The centre confirmed that that record rainfall that fell on the country on April 17th 2024 was an exceptional event in the UAE's climate history since the start of recording climate data.

Have a wonderful day.
