We often forget how much effort and meaning musicians put into their work. Hours upon hours worth of passion and ideas — all condensed into a track that only lasts a few minutes at most. Here, I'll briefly try to appreciate some of that genius by examining Danny Elfman, Hans Zimmer & The Magnificent Six, and Michael Giacchino's themes for the various incarnations of Spider-Man.

All music and visuals used in this video are property of Disney and Sony Pictures.

For everyone asking why James Horner wasn't included:
I’m a HUGE James Horner fan, but doing two themes for The Amazing Spider-Man really disrupted the flow of the video so I had to pick one 🤷🏻‍♀️ If it’s any consolation I 100% will be covering other James Horner compositions on this chan

  • I find it weird coincidence that Danny Elfman, Hans zimmer and Michael Giacchino had composed themes for both Batman and Spiderman movies. Very strange coincidence.

If I'm being honest here, everytime I hear Toby's theme, it sends chills to my spine like I grew up to Toby's trilogy and that song is always stuck to me after all these years
  • 6:07 “Spider-Man!” “Hello pedestrians!” Fun fact: the TASM Suit in NWH was originally going to be a combination of TASM1 and 2’s suit. Basically, TASM 1 suit combined the big eyes from TASM2. It was scrapped as Andrew Garfield’s TASM 2 suit still fits well and saves time for the studio, I guess.

FINALLY! Someone that appreciates and acknowledges TASM 2 score. The Electro theme is one of my favorite pieces of movie music.
  • I absolutely love every single live action Spider-Man theme, and I’m so glad there’s a YouTuber to break down why others should love it too.
  • To me, TASM theme has always been more about mystery than heroism, at least the one in the 1st movie, the 2nd movie theme resembles more an icon, a statue, the image that Spiderman has to the eyes of a citizen. They're well made 👍
  • Every time I hear the MCU spiderman theme, it reminds me of how incredible it is that he's a part of it. For nearly a decade he wasn't and nowadays we take it for granted that he's in it, but every time I hear the opening to that theme it reminds me that he's "home". Homecoming might not be the best spiderman movie, especially in the MCU, but for what it meant to see him in a wider world bigger than just himself, it always has a special place in my heart

I love how the Tom Holland's theme seems to have an evolution every movie. Like, his theme develops along with him in his journey, from being an inexperienced kid to becoming Spider-Man. His theme represents that really well in my opinion. PS: I really wonder what his theme in the new trilogy will sound like. Hope it keeps evolving along with Peter.
  • @rogueguardian
I just love how whimsical and innocent Tom's Spider-Man theme is, as we go on this journey with him the theme starts to elevate more and more throughout the films, and by the end of no way home he's the classic Spider-Man we all know and love.

So, this video made me: 1. Take the Giacchino's theme more seriously then 'an orchestrated version of the theme from the 60s' 2. Remember Hans Zimmer's theme, which was stuck in my mind somewhere but no longer linked to Spiderman, and understand how it added to my liking that first movie so much. 3. Decide that Elfman's theme belongs in my best soundtracks of all time. It's just so complete and although I've listened to it tons, that moment the responsibility theme comes up still never fails to blindside me.

Danny Elffman's Peter Parker theme is honestly a masterpiece. I think he perfectly captured what makes spiderman different from every other super hero. It's that Spiderman isn't the hero. Peter Parker his. Simply standing up and doing the right thing because you have the responsibility to do so. No matter what it makes you sacrifice. It's what makes Peter Parker so altruistic. Elffman's Peter Parker theme is just so unbelievably heroic and tragic and ugh it's amazing.
  • Andrews theme is definitely my favourite. It encapsulates everything that makes spiderman spiderman, and sounds incredibly cool and badass at the same time
  • @joelmole3157
I love how the opening of the Elfman theme evokes the feeling of a spider crawling up a wall. Side note: I do wish you included the James Horner theme as that's pretty good too
  • @lil7725
The TASM2 theme is hands down my favorite Spider-Man theme of all time. It mixes so many elements of what makes the character so great. Everything about it just screams SPIDER-MAN. I especially love the slowed-down part that plays when he returns to the kid at the end of the movie, something about that scene with the music playing just makes me get so emotional every time I see it. Its a beautiful soundtrack.

Tobey's theme is the true masterpiece
  • All of them. All of them are great. The artists behind these amazing piece really did put hardwork behind it. How Tobey's symbolizes his heroism, Andrew's talks about his intelligence and Tom's theme tells us about his evolution from Peter Parker to our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.
  • @saturnringer267
2:52 is what defined Spider-Man and the concept of superheroes for me. Masterpiece
  • "But regardless if which is your favourite, I think its important to remind ourselves that each version of this character was created by passionate artists." That's all I needed to hear...
  • In “No Way Home”, Giacchino utilizes Dies Irae (day of wrath) when Peter is fighting one of the villains. It’s subtle but masterfully done.
