The Wild West has fallen. Millions must jingle jangle jingle.

The "original name of the capital" question is an Easter egg referencing the fact that Shady Sands in labeled the "NCR" on the map in Fallout 2. There's nothing before the show released to suggest that Shady Sands was no longer the capital.

So if Shady Sands was nuked in 2277, did we hear or read about this in New Vegas? I mean the game is 4 years after the fact and the NCR is still quite together. Corrupt yes, overextended yes, but the whole point of their occupation in Vegas was to support California? If Shady Sands was nuked wouldn't we have felt those effects on the NCR in New Vegas? Maybe I just missed that detail in the game
  • theory time (with spoilers so heads up) just cause Shady Sands is gone, that doesn't mean the NCR as a whole is. since in the final scene it's implied season 2 is going to New Vegas (plus the credits art we see afterwards) I have a hunch that they'll make it so the NCR ending in that game is canon, and that's where their main force is now that their capital has fallen.

Is that you sneakyrat? How do we explain Vault 33 not being discovered by the Master when it was on their doorstep? If Shady Sands is now in L.A. then is Vault 13 just outside of L.A.? How did the Master not discover it as well?

He only said New Vegas is canon, he didn’t specify if it was the game or not. For all we know the location is canon but not the game.
  • @MrDannyMean
Imagine if in the second season they put yes man in charge of new vegas 😂

This is pure copium. The show is shitting all over the OG lore. If Shady Sands fell in 2277 that would’ve been something we hear about from the NCR in 2281. But we don’t because this was lazy writing that makes no sense at all.
  • @RapidSteve
NCR is gone, effectively written out the show. So we'll see.

I'm gonna watch the show, simply based on your cat's positive review there at the end. Love to see such vocal support.
  • @mininoble2253
He didn’t make it uncannon but he did something nearly as bad if not just as bad, basically nothing the NCR did ever mattered. That’s what he did. I could have written something more realistic and interesting (Shandified if you will) at 15. Maybe 16.

Considering what I thought would happen I'm willing to accept that this is a different timeline.
  • @waterboi4846
bro 2277 is before fallout new vegas. in fallout new vegas NCR was at peak power
  • @kloveda5
I think they are setting up fallout 5 to take place in “former” NCR territory. If the faction was still around it would be difficult to make an appealing game in stable/controlled territory. I’d the NCR gone, probably not. I think they are definitely around is some shape and form. It’s entirely possible that they are broken due to civil war or spilt like the East and west Roman Empire and the next game might deal with reconciliation or decimation of the NCR.
  • @imcubanb2870
They just messed up on the timeline. If Shady Sands fell in 2277, then why did the NCR get so involved in New Vegas so they can send power to ....Shady Sands? I have no problem with destroying the city, just adjust the timeline by a few years. Also if Shady Sands was in such bad shape then i don't think the president or General Oliver would have been traveling to New Vegas during the game. They would be busy dealing with the heart of the NCR. Also moving Shady Sands to LA was stupid. LA was rightfully nuked to hell and radioactive which is why it made sense that the vault and survived and started building the city when it did. On the bright side the show looks great on a esthetic level.
  • Anyone that saw the show whit its own eyes saw that final sequnce gets what they did Like its in the show , what they did is in the show , you cant pretend that sequence dosent exist
  • @f1xer21
(I WAS WRONG) The cannon reason is that The courier Had enough of history repeating itself and used the nukes on both factions, giving Bethesda the freedom to recreate California.
  • Maybe what's left of the NCR is in Oregon. Basically north of California probably where they are.
  • I think the NCR still exists to some degree, but they’ve massively regressed and loss power, allowing the BoS to swoop in and take over
