for over the last two decades, i have been worried that the 90s just might have been peak humanity

Man, there's never gonna be another Jim Carrey. Grew up watching this guy's work.

"One more Watt you'll be a light bulb!" That's way too smart for Dumb and Dumber.

Growing up watching movies with Jim Carrey and Robin Williams...such a treat.

It's astounding how he injects life into his characters by seizing the moment and reacting authentically. He truly is one of the funniest guys around. His improvisational skills not only add unpredictability to his performances but make for some classic movie moments.

If you are going to mute scenes, why even show them?
  • He revised his entire career by being himself as Dr Robotnic the improvised lines where pure magic he definitely stole the show
  • My favourite improvised Carrey moment is in the first Ace Ventura when he walks by an orchestra at a party and randomly pulls one guys arm that's holding the violin bow just as he is playing. It's so random and well timed which makes it perfect.

The big gulps scene is so iconic for no reason.

I remember watching that “chitty chitty bang bang” part in the theater when it came out. The entire theater was crying laughing. I don’t think I’ve ever been in a room with so many people laughing so hard ever. I’ll never forget it.
  • @MrBananaLady-
"oohhh big gulps ha? welp, see ya later." best line ever, 10/10 still gets me to giggle after over 20 years.

Genius level stuff, Jim Carrey. He brought so much joy and happiness to my family and I over the years, especially at his peak, starting with Living Color. People just look at the silly antics, but it takes great skill, talent and a high degree of intelligence to pull off, and to do so consistently for so long. I love Jim.
  • 💐 to Mr. Carrey 🙂 From ILC to the big screen. I could never imagine anyone else in the roles he genuinely delivered over the decades. Much love and respect. Thank you for this post TheLaughPlanet
  • I remember the moment I realized how truly remarkable Jim Carrey's talent is. The Truman Show. Near the end, when he's in the boat and facing everything about himself - his terror, his past, his uncertainty about the future and his certainty that he must keep moving towards it - I was blown away. Stunning performance and wholly unexpected, since previous performances were Ace Ventura, The Mask, etc. Memorable and b.e.a.youtiful.

And what's even better he's one of few celebrities that see Hollywood and celebrity culture for what it truly is.

That big gulp scene was always hilarious to me for some reason... This man will always be one of the funniest!

His character in The Incredible Burt Wonderstone was an absolute riot. And with Steve Carrel that film had to be non stop laughter.
