Growing a 10,000 sq ft garden entirely from SEEDS!: A tour!

Published 2024-07-20
Hey Ya'll, welcome to our little hobby farm. I'm thrilled you're here! I hope you'll find a comfy chair, a cup of something hot and wonderful, and spend sometime with us.

You'll typically find me in one of two places, the garden or the kitchen. Teaching and sharing this amazing world of growing your food, cooking from scratch, utilizing your harvest, and homesteading with our family, is a passion. We hope to encourage people to grow their own food, feel confident in homesteading, and live a life both messy and beautiful, because this life comes with a bit of dirt and a lot of love.

Every week you'll find us enjoying the wildness of raising a large family in the country. Welcome to the garden, to the kitchen, and to our small farm in South Carolina.

Faith is like a seed; plant it in your heart. God gives the harvest at the appointed time. (Mark 4:26-27,28-29)

TIP from an old gardener in the southern United States where the vine borers are terrible . Grow only mochata type pumpkins because the borers have a hard time killing the vines. I like the Long Island cheese, Butternut , Seminole , Futsu and the Longneck. They keep really well and are delicious. All the pepo and maxima cave to the borers very quickly

Girl!!!! I can't watch this second because I have tractor work to do right now here in NE Texas - but you are so beautifully awesome!!!! I'll be back after my chores!!!
  • Iā€™m really glad to see that you found your Aji Carapita peppers. Yours are about the same size that mine are. I havenā€™t had any flowers on them yet, but I am hoping to soon God bless you and your family. Duane

Great video. I am kinda amazed how she remembers all them varieties, be it peppers, tomatoes, etc. I wish that she can grow as much food for the less fortunate in the community. ā¤

your garden is breath taking, you are literally living my dream, love from Brasil <3
  • I havenā€™t watched the whole video yet (but I will). Just have a question before I forget lol. What was the reason you snipped the top of the tomato? Iā€™m asking because I have a few that are so tall I canā€™t get anything sturdy enough to support the very top of the plant (and itā€™s still growing). Iā€™m just not sure what will happen if I do. They arenā€™t even starting to blush but I have quite a few nice clusters. And you are totally right! Itā€™s such an amazing feeling growing the majority of your garden by seed. I only have 600 square feet which I think is a decent size however your garden is massive and so beautiful šŸ˜
  • I love the noodle beans. Try doing a stir fry with garlic, spicy peppers and smoked paprika, so good.

Has Seth tried carosello melon/cucumber. It is an Italian variety.

What do you make with your Cuccuza? This is my first time growing themā€¦ such a beautiful plant!
  • Girl, I feel you on the spiders!! I just can't, and it sucks since I've got numerous chicken coops and use my broom to get their webs down daily, but they still somehow get new huge webs made overnight that I ALWAYS run right into..lol!! Ninja moves usually bust out at that time! Your garden is beautiful and enjoyed your garden tour.
  • I don't know how you can remember everything, I have considerably less, mini garden really compared to yours, and I forget what is what within a month XD. I really wanted to plant passion fruit, but I'm having a hard time finding seeds or vines for sale near me. any suggestions on a merchant?

I take a lot of notes when I watch your videos. I need to know why my tomato plants have flowers but no tomatoes. I think it's my soil. šŸ˜¢
