My final thoughts and takeaways building the massive 11,885 piece Mould King ISD Monarch. Part 1 is an overview and some positive notes. Part 2 will include some small gripes and final thoughts. I also have short videos of each section (22 in total) that will be uploaded to show some inside views, thoughts at each point, etc.
UPDATE: This set appears to be based on the Rebrickable MOC designed by ONECASE. Please consider supporting this awesome creator via his webpage:

Looks absolutely amazing I don't have room for this sadly but I have ordered a nice looking midi star destroyer from mould king. Can't wait I'm new to the world of Lego and Lego alternatives, I'm perfectly happy to support competition

Awesome build! I have been a huge Lego fan for years. The problem I have with Lego is the cost and availability of some sets. Over the last 3 or 4 years I have been buying the non-lego sets such as Mould King, Lepin, etc... and to be completely honest I will more than likely keep buying the non-lego sets. Aside of some minor details on the mini figs and missing Lego imprint on the studs, Most people that view my collection can't tell the difference. I am currently building the 12,000+ piece Millennium Falcon with the full interior from Mould King and I am very please. I paid about $280 including shipping. Lego wants a minimum of $700 for their version, but its only 7,000+ pieces and not nearly as nice or as detailed. Currently I have about 150+ sets, all Star Wars, and I would say about 75% of those sets are non-Lego. Oh and you are absolutely correct about the tool Mould King provides! I LOVE the hammer! Especially for the larger sets and parts like you said! Keep up the great work on your videos.
  • Thanks for these very helpful and informative videos. Just received mine today and can’t wait to build it.

Talked to you awhile back about this set and a few months ago I finally bought it! Just got it done, your technical videos on this set really helped slot. Thanks a bunch for your videos M8 keep doin your thing!

Thanks for giving onecase a shout-out and buying his instructions. I'm torn on these sets. If Lego isn't going to make them. I'm glad someone does. Star Wars IP aside. But, the thing I'm frustrated about is they don't compensate the original designers! I'm glad you did. Another guy here on Youtube had a video similar to yours and when I asked if he paid onecase for the instructions, he asked who that was when I told him he ignored me. Thanks again!

Thanks for doing this video. It was super informative!
  • Wow! I'd really like to build this one! Tempting to build a coffee table around this one

Thank you for these videos! It was because you made these I decided to get this model. I'm currently on bag 4. You're correct, the bags being numbered are a huge help. And yes sometimes it's hard to understand exactly where to place a piece. But the quality is great! I recommend Mould King to anyone not sure. Mine took 2 months to arrive in the UK but that was my fault, because I ordered from Alibaba! (I won't do that again). Cheers again for these helpful videos.

loved building this too. Only had a bit of trouble with the tip of the ship. Funny how one of the best features of the ship isn't easily visible, which is the docking bay.
  • I just saw this on Amazon and went straight to this video. I want this so bad. This is crazy, especially for the price. Do has one spot for it. Might have to cave in and get this.

Specifically what do I order for the transparent blue engine pieces? I would like to do the same as you.
  • Just finished mine ,but the blockade runner is missing the 8 white stud shooters for the engines so I will have to contact Mould King or order some, but the star destroyer looks awesome
  • @vtambellini
What’s your thoughts on the multi colored bricks scattered throughout? Would it look better with just light bluish gray?
  • which blue stones did you use for the drives? do you have a number and which manufacturer?
  • @adamz8586
Hi I’m trying to buy a clone lego star destroyer like this if you don’t mind where did you buy this kit and around how much and I love how you reviewed this it explains everything!
  • Can you make a list for the extra transparent pieces you used for the engines?
  • do instructions come in the box or do you have to buy them separately?
